Love the video. I'm going to go home and try this on my guitars. The fact that he didn't have editing software made this way more helpful

Did the same thing on my gloss neck - it's not 100% like satin, but it's way better than full gloss. I also used tape to cover the pickups to avoid getting anything into the cavity or the pole pieces.

Did this on my player les Paul and my strat. I’ve gotten so much shot for satin finishing my les Paul neck, but it’s my player. People don’t realize that we have our players which we can’t be afraid to use and mod and then we have our collectors. I have les Paul customs and strats, teles in cases which have almost never seen the light of day. More fun than hedge funds, but they’re my sons college funds.

I've got to tell a type guitar a buzz Feiten T-Pro but had it absolutely massive neck on it with a nitro finish. I used to hit the finished with some wet and dry sandpaper around a thousand grit and a couple weeks later my hand just polished it back up So since I wanted to make the neck a little bit smaller I got some heavier sandpaper Around 350 grit but thought that was too aggressive so I went to 600 grit and I kept sanding it down and also making it a little asymmetrical on the base side to make it a little easier to wrap my thumb around when I got it to a shape that felt good it's still big but not over big I switch to 800 grit and then a thousand So now that the finish is down to wood I want to seal it but keep it satin do you know what a good finish would be I don't want to use a spray finish I prefer to wipe on the finish an oil of some kind but I don't know what kind of oil to use any thoughts?

Carvin guitars used to just use tung oil on their wood finished necks...Turtle wax makes it, probably other companies as well...probably get it in any hardware store or Amazon...just an idea...
