I have tons of these good ideas! Finishing a song is much harder, but finishing a song that I really enjoy is even harder. So, I just got to finishing the songs, and it doesn't matter that not every song is great.

Thank Tomasso. Your videos are always so fun, full of positive energy, and of course applicable information.

Megadeath save all the riffs, then move all to the same key, and play some in a sequence... wow, new song!

It's structure and also paradox of choice. 6 different notes can be arranged in 720 different combinations. 8 different can be arranged in 40,320 sequences. 10 notes can be arranged in 3,628,800 different sequences, etc. This is not even considering rhythm!

Six notes, 720.
@ajames283Ай бұрын
@@christopherheckman7957 Yes I meant 720. Permutation formula.

I have a fantastic example of this exact situation, my songwriting teacher ended up being blown away, I would be honored if I could send you a link to the song, and you could decide to make a small extension of this video if you find it helps work as an example!

Take a song of the band that you like and break it down. Choose a riff/motif and see how it is used in the song in different sections. Remember you don't always have to WRITE a full song, you can also PRACTICE doing these things. That way you become better at composing
@matsokol8802Ай бұрын
He needs you to take his motif of his riff and take that and make variatons of it. How does he make cool variations of his motif into a full piece? Your answer was song structure. He was sitting there like what -no shit Tomasso.

That's what we covered 10 minutes before the footage of this video. He knows how :)

Save everything, a 4 bar idea can suddenly become the bridge in a song that hasn't been compleated yet. An old bass line that didn't fit the song you made it for can be the melody in the next song. And so on. I have fifty year old ideas saved and maby they be used, maby not.
@TomGrubbeАй бұрын
How do you save your ideas? Like which software do you use? Do you save clips organized in folders or name the .wav or .mp3 clips by the key they're played in or some other criteria?
@ulfsvensson9710Ай бұрын
@@TomGrubbe I use Note Worthy Composer, Reaper, Phone, Pen and paper. Also real to real.

how about - ask a songwriter to do it, and just stick to playing the guitar?
