There was at least one rich guy who didn't go on because his son warned him. Jay Bloom, who's a Billionaire investor and is son (20) went to see the sub and the son had immediate red flags. “He basically told me he knew I'm a helicopter pilot, and he said, 'This is safer than flying a helicopter. It's safer than scuba diving.' And at lunch he said, 'It's safer than crossing the street,' " Jay recounts. "He was a good guy, great heart, really believed in what he was doing and saying. But he didn't want to hear anything that conflicted with his world view, and he would just dismiss it.” “He absolutely believed what he was saying," he continues. "But I didn't want to get into the safety concerns anymore, because he was so vested in his position. And anybody who questioned it just had a differing opinion."
@Vincisomething Жыл бұрын
"As late as the end of May, or in mid-May, he was texting me that they had spots open a week or two out. And he offered me a $100,000 off each of our tickets,” Jay reveals. He says he felt the CEO did not think it would be dangerous for them to make the trip. “He was so passionate about this project, and he was such a believer. He drank his own Kool-Aid, and there was just no talking him out of it,” Jay explains. “I don't think Stockton understood the risk himself, or didn't want to understand the risk.” “I made the informed decision not to do this,” he says. “I told [my father] it was a bad idea, and he listened to me and we both agreed not to go. It’s crazy that people who did go were in a similar situation as me and my dad.” The sad irony is the position was filled by the 19 year old and his dad.

"For Sean, the first red flag that alarmed him about Rush was his arrival in Las Vegas, where Sean, Jay and Rush were set to meet. He says they asked why Rush was landing at a North Las Vegas airport rather than the commercial airports like McCarran. 'He’s like, 'Yeah, I built this plane with my hands, and I'm test-flying it right now.' And we’re like, ‘What?' That was my first red flag,” he explains." The guy had red flags before he even saw the sub.

The worst part is people have been down there mad times to see the titanic, DECADES AGO, and knew how to do it safely. This the equivalent of building a plane and all the top engineers from Boeing, Northrop Grumman, and every other leader in aerospace tech saying "bro if you take off in that, the only way your landing is by crashing" and they were like "nah we straight." The more you look into it the worse it gets, like they've had tons of problems before on previous dives that they could have taken note of and fixed way before it got to this point. They basically did the equivalent of driving a car with every dash warning light on for years and then did the Pikachu face when the car broke down on the highway, except the highway is 12,000 ft under the ocean.

Idk what the rush was bruh like they have all the resources and time in the world why not use that to ensure everything is good to go before taking the dive? Plus what are they gonna learn about the titanic that they don't already know? Did they just wanna see it?
@PeregrinesChagrin Жыл бұрын
@@sirhundo5976 "What's the rush" is right. I think everyone should check out the news clip of James Cameron talking about this. The man was so obsessed with the Titanic that he's done over 30 dives into the ocean like he's obsessed obsessed. He talked about before they even started building anything for the water they spent 3 years just making computer models. As for what the goal was of this, I think Shawn Hit the nail on the head when he said it's bored rich people shit. From the tiny amount of information I've gathered it really just seems like they were trying to do tourism for rich people. But they were trying to do it in the most extra way possible. Like the shape of the hull, the materials they built it out of, everything they did was as unique as it was wrong. They basically tried to build a car out of solid gold and then listed terrible gas mileage and inability to achieve highway speeds as "features." Watching videos of the CEO who died It really seems like he just wanted to be special. He talks about "innovating"and "breaking the rules", typical tech billionaire CEO bullshit. Meanwhile there were leading engineers in the field writing letters saying "please please don't let anybody on there they're going to die." *TL;DR: Main character syndrome*

Okay, hear me out... why couldnt there be a cable that is permanently attached to the sub whilst it goes down so incase of emergency they are lifted up...???

A cable that goes down hundreds of miles underwater where the pressure is completely different?

Btw you can't just casually buy a submarine. I believe OceanGate initially tried to before building the Titan and the Navy + Coast Guard said "nah."

Ngl that’s a crazy way to go I think I’d get to the doc & go home tbh I’d rather try space at least that’s beautiful you’re going down there to see absolutely nothing or a fucking species you can’t tell anyone about anyway lol.

*Unless you Aquaman or Superman or any of them super strong mofos who can handle that level of pressure in the ocean I doubt we’ll ever uncover even 20% of what lies in those depths….logically I feel like it’s just boring and crazy amounts of water pressure but the kid in me wants it to be some wild crazy shit we haven’t found yet like what could be beneath them super dense lakes and etc*
