i mean yea. they look for raw skill and then you attempt to reign it in for a more structured solution. you can’t teach talent but you can teach timings and practicing reserve during games. zinni knows he got by with just comms and teammates throughout his career, no lies there.

You want a well rounded person who can adapt and solve issues in team chemistry and work on what is needed to improve and develop a strong consistency of getting it done. It depends on what you want to get from your team. Each player should contribute their skills and knowledge at an equal consistency. What roles is needed. Choose the guy who can take on any role any time. Choose the players that are not predictable and always play for the team. Teamwork makes the dream work. You can have 20 kills in SnD and still lose to the OBJ. Kills in objective based modes is not the priority. Only for slayer/sub roles is it a priority.

Could disagree with though, for example the issue that people are having with Cellium. You could be dropping 40 kills but if they aren’t kills that are helping the team win what’s the point? I understand that they are placing second, but I rather have a guy who is winning every tournament doing well consistently that helps the team win. The one thing thought that helps the guy who is dropping 40. Is the brand aspect of things. If you have a guy absolutely slaying out there that could attract more fans, almost like pred or hydra. Guys on eh teams that attract fans because of individual talent.

There is a reason though. There are challengers players have come up and drop .7s in the league. If you aren’t dropping 1.2+ and dropping a 1.01 in challengers teams are worried you’ll be below that in the league because everyone has gun skill in the CDL.

Think of it as another team sport like basketball. You have a player dropping triple doubles but is not winning. That’s because the headlines will be more interested in a player stat padding and building their personal legacy than actually winning for the team. Same with COD. You got a slayer god doing jump shots, drop shots, turn around shot in the back quadruple kills on the cam and that will get the crowd and social media hyped.

Honestly chemistry over anything else. Some people fit well with others. People who just out right fry typically don’t synchronize with other people but themselves. Typically is the key word. Thats when coaching is in effect. However if you have someone who can do it all and does it well then you can then have a good team. Look at the lakers. To many people who do 1 thing great but dont build on each other. A 4 man team is the same way, build on-top of each other and you can have the best team every time.

I’m assuming part of that is that you’re comparing professional play to online solo play which is a completely different environment. Having a high amount of kills shows that you’re skilled whereas just winning shows that you just know how to play solo well. It’s similar reason why the rank one player in league of legends for solo queue doesn’t necessarily go pro either

As an aside, this is why gaming isn’t yet ripe for a huge competition culture shift. The “experts” are still in their 20’s and making emotional pleas instead of well thought out arguments. From what I have read online or heard from "How to go pro" videos is this. The chances of someone getting invited to join a pro team is similar to a singer or band getting picked up by a label. There's no "go to place" for tryouts usually. Unless there's a reason for a team to need to fill a slot in a short time. You have to be making videos & putting them on a broad variety of social platforms. So in a sense,getting noticed not only takes in game skill,but the ability to put those skills on display in a manner so it gets viewed by as much of the community as possible. Do some research on the platforms algorithms & try to make a thumbnail that grabs one's attention. It's often a good idea to be sure your titles & keywords are honest & descriptive all while leaving a little wonder to the outcome. Lastly & imo the most important. You must never ever use click bait to rack up views. That makes you look like you're not creative or skilled enough to make content worth watching.
