I have an English walnut tree (5 years) planted in a pot and doing very well . It hasn't flowered yet though

A 50 failure rate is high, does anyone know why? Would grafting bands at the graft union help? What is the reason they are not used, would a whip and tongue graft be helpful as there is a larger area of contact.

I read that saddle graft would work better than omega graft. Soleimani et al. 2010. Though I'd be very happy with 50% succes!

Almost any graft will work better than an omega graft. I thing omega best suited for grape vines.
