How to Graph Quadratic Inequalities! (explanation, steps, and example)

#How do you graph quadratic inequalities? These are inequalities where your quadratic is greater than or less than y, not greater than or less than 0. For quadratic inequalities greater or less than 0, those are in another video (listed below).
This video shows you step by step how to graph a quadratic inequality, from finding the vertex to charting points to determining where it should be a solid or dotted line. I also show you how to determine where to shade your graph after you've drawn your parabola.

What is the b is odd number?

If the b is odd, then your axis of symmetry will be a fraction. For example, in x^2 + 3x + 2, -b/2a would be -3/2. So your axis of symmetry would be x = -3/2. You won’t have to do any steps differently in the problem, though I agree fractions do make some of the math more awkward. Hope that helps! 🙂

I think there may be an x missing after the 9. If so, you can absolutely solve this problem using the steps in this video 😊. Here’s a quick summary: First graph the parabola. To do that, I recommend you use x = - b / 2a to find the axis of symmetry, where 9 is your b and 1 is your a. Once you have x, plug it into the equation to find the y and you have your vertex. Plug in a couple of values to the left and right of x to get some points to graph. Then look at the greater than/less than sign in the original equation to determine whether the parabola should be a solid or dashed line. Finally, pick a test point to determine where to shade. (For this kind of problem, I would definitely recommend watching the video since there’s a lot of graphing and visual parts to it 🙂- I just don’t feel like I’m explaining it as well in this limited space 😓)
