i am a groomer, what you people might not understand is she may only be gently holding the dog, but the dog could be pulling away from her. it makes it look like she is being rough but really she is keeping the dog still enough to make it safe to groom. It is not easy to groom a living, moving creature with sharp objects if you dont keep it still. she is doing it exactly how she should be to make sure that it is a safe groom. you try to shave down a dogs nose without holding its face and see how fun it is.

Wow a lot of people in this video are hateful toward human beings. So many violent threats and hateful words. I love seeing the people who groom dogs for a living get on here and say she's not hurting the dog, and the people who are ignorant (unknowing) of how to groom a dog are being very vicious. I would take my dog to this lady. Good video.

Lots of snowflakes ❄ in the comment section. This groomer stated that she was holding the chin to keep him steady. The dog obviously didn't want to be groomed, so he pulled away while she was still holding his chin. He wasn't being hurt. The groomer was keeping the dog from being hurt. She most likely has many many years of experience, and knows what she is doing. Do you really think she would harm an animal in a video on purpose for all to see? I don't think so.

Crystal R. At least someone has some fn sense here! She wasnt even holding it by the hair... She was holding the lead that was under its chin. At one point the dog got scared... Happens all the time. She wasnt rough at all.. She was professional which these idiots dont understand.

hey crystal my dog was killed by a groomer at petsmart . groomer scalped the dog it bled to death so hey dont be such a macho man crystal dogs can and DO get injured by groomers . my dog hemmoraged under her skin from PETSMART GROOMER WHO KILLED MY DOG

I'm a groomer formed by self-learning. First of all I admire all specialists out there, from who I try to learn every single tip. You inspire me with your effort and perfectionism. Second. Yeh I'm a groomer and my job consists on visiting dogs at their homes, and do all the job in every posible situation. Yeh I must adapt cos I travel with the basics and try to do the best for the dog, and give owners the look they expecting. Sometimes I just go mad cos owners ask for things I don's find atractive, or things simply are wrong. This trimming looks awesome. But then my client parents ask for "shhorter, shorter, trim here a little more, cut this..." ANd dogs ends up looking... Fabulous?? Owners are happy, and most important for me, dogs are happy. Cos my service is caring and saving most of times (matted dogs, infested, and every sad situation posible). Few of my clients are in the other side, cos they look glamorous each time I visit them and sometimes I ask myself why they call me. Yeh, they get the "spa service": massage, slow process, brushing just for please owners and pet... And free bows when they keep long hair on ears

I groom my shih tzus at home, I love my dogs and am as gentle as possible; but they still move! Which means in order to not cut them or poke out an eye, they need to be handled firmly. Yes the dogs lip is out because the DOG is pulling away, she's not pulling the dog. Would you rather her have a loose grip and potentially hurt the dog because it moves it's head?? No? Then STFU. Unfortunately with shih tzus and the like, grooming is a necessary evil. Most dogs hate it, but it still needs to be done. Great video! Thanks for posting.

Love your videos! Right to the point and not a lot of excess. I have shih Tzus who because they are my babies they try to get their way by jerking and whining. The dog in this video looks exactly like my Sunshine. My Sunshine is a rescue animal, so I don't know exactly what breed she is. I keep thinking she is Shih Ztu/ Poodle mix or Maltese/ poodle mix. If anyone knows please answer my post.

@ Agatha Hofmann, Agreed, & as far as i'm concerned it all comes down to the Almighty Dollar $ here, this woman is gonna rip this Puppers bottom lip from his/her mouth she is TO ROUGH for my taste maybe she could of let this pupper catch it's breath then she could of gave it another go. poor baby his/her lip most be hurtin' this woman is too heavy handed & she obviously doesn't care how the doggo feels, i'm sure if someone was pulling/stretching her lip she wouldn't be happy about it either. I avoid certain kind of procedures if dog doesn't like it. I don't care I wont do something if dog is yelling at me. Cos it is saying "i don't want this, take your weird paws off, damn human" But then I start talkng to dog and he sits fancy and give their hands for me to trim -NEVER- Yeh i avoid some thins as clippers or dryer. And use scissors or towels, must adapt on the dog personality.

There is no need to pull on the dogs chin hair like that and its actually extremely disappointing to see you treated the dog like this. I WOULD NEVER bring my dog to this woman to be groomed. I've groomed my own dog and i've watched as she has been groomed and never has anyone treated her like this. They should label this video "where not to take your dog to get groomed"

I can see that she held the dog by the chin tightly, and tugs it several times to let the dog know she can hurt her. The big smile and sweet words don't fool me, or the dog. Neither do the comments of another groomer. I watched every second my dog was being groomed. No quick trips without me to the back room for a "wash"....... with drugged treats. Ever wonder why your dog is sluggish the day after grooming? They say it is against the law, but that doesn't mean they don't do it. This woman reminds me of the Petsmart groomer who buzzed off 2 of my dogs nipples before I could stop her, with an electric clipper. I groom my own dog now, not because of money, but because I don't want her abused or drugged.

tom jackson I fully agree with you Tom! I have brought my dog once and only once to a groomer. She looked after like the woman had no idea how to groom a schnauzer :/ her ears were full of water! Since then I groom her myself, bought oster clippers and have her groomed every few weeks. I don't have to hold her down like that and know she isn't abused by some 'professional' in the back of a shabby business. It is a skill anyone with a little input can learn without even paying for a course. She isn't a show dog so I don't have to have everything perfect just enough that she is a happy pooch with well maintained hair ;) But to be fair I know not everyone is a bad groomer but I don't want to take chances.

+tom jackson Your dog is sluggish bc it's fought like and idiot on the grooming table. The lady did NOT tug the dogs beard, she held firmly, while the dog spazzed out! If she let go, the dog would do it EVERYTIME someone went to groom it's eyes. Your dog isnt stupid. You people dont have to hold your dog down at home, then great do that! You have to realize your dog doesnt know this person from Adam, and they have loud scary tools. I had a beagle that would bite whenever I would trim his nails, and when I took him to work to be groomed, he spazzed just the same, UNTIL I walked out of the room. Why? Bc he knew it worked with me. Period. He knew he wasnt getting hurt, but did it bc it got him out of it. You are all fools who REALLY underestimate your dog.

Like I said, if you let that dog go, it could bite, but even if it didnt, it now knows that all it has to do is yank it's head away and you'll let go and stop... Just like a kid. They 'stupid creatures, and I think it's you who underestimates them, and probably would spend 6 hours on this one dogs, when you have to get it completely done in two.... (you know owners dont want to wait that long to get their dog back)... so go ahead and try calling the owner and saying, you cant get it done that fast bc you cant restrain it. The dog’s bottom teeth were showing before she grabbed any of the hair. That dog appears to just have either an underbite or very relaxed lower lip, and thus any downward tension whatsoever would make it seem more pronounced. Is the dog enjoying the process? Of course not.. who would want someone holding scissors up to their eyes?
