I just found you in 2023! Oh my God, your story of natural hair growing up is similar to where I come from. I NEVER saw any woman wear their natural hair. It was regarded as very untidy and not recognised at all. We were told that our hair is like 'steel wool' and cannot be handled by anyone. Do you know steel wool. The hard stuff that is used for cleaning stainless steel pans? that one. I have just come round to accepting my hair and loving it and I love the space that I'm in. It's growing and so beautiful. I'm loving the process and journey with it. It take me time as I have not mastered my routine yet but I show her off as often as I can

The mentality that people have towards our hair is so sad!! But I think things are slowly changing, thank you for watching!!

I love how you re-connected to your hair and then your faith. I appreciate how you mention God and His diversity and creativity inside of His creation. We are all made in His image. He is so great so shame on us for thinking we are less. Praise God!

I so much agree with this. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve known who are excited to go natural only to quickly give up because they believe their hair is a problem that they can’t fix. I took on the mindset that God didn’t make our hair a problem that needs to be fixed. It’s exactly as it should be.

Yes!! I sometimes wonder if he's looking down at us and saddened that we struggle to see ourselves through his eyes, 4c hair in it's full glory is so incredible, I wish i would have come to this realization earlier in life but we all walk a different path. Thank you for watching!

I love that your message about shaping our attitude regarding our hair can also be applied to how we navigate/embrace life. I have definitely experienced all of the thoughts and emotions you shared regarding our hair type and look forward to being more patient, kind and loving towards the gift that God gave me. Great content 💞

Your advice is more valid than any hairdressers because they have mostly been trained to work with chemicals and extensions. It is up to us how much or little time we spend on our hair, my colleagues used to ask and then comment on how long I spent at the salon. I used to tell them until one day I turned the tables on them asked them why were they so free to criticise when they were not using their schedule or bank account to do my hair after that you can hear the crickets. Our hair is beautiful, you are showing us we can have a crowning glory when we use techniques appropriate for our hair and not use products and regimens designed for other hair types ❤️
@preciousfro2 жыл бұрын
I agree I think most hairstylists focus is on executing a style instead of caring for our actual natural hair unfortunately. Good for you for standing up for yourself! It’s no one’s business what you do or how you take care of your hair,how can they comment on something that they are not familiar with. Those kind of statements and comments can make people feel insecure about what they have and change their routine and practices just to please other people. So I commend you for staying true to yourself and doing what you know is good for you and your hair.❤️ thank you for your support!!

I can honestly appreciate your perspective about changing/adjusting attitude towards natural hair. I love the Christian perspective, but aside from a person's individual faith, I believe attitude has a major influence on how things are affected on most aspects of life and the challenges we encounter as humans.

I completely agree with 100% of all of that! Thanks girl!!

Such a powerful message, Precious!! So excited for your KZbin journey. I love how you incorporated faith. About close to a year ago I had to really assess my attitude towards my hair and began to pray over my hair before wash day. And let me tell you, God is good! I still struggle with overall maintenance and growth BUT my wash days have been filled with so much more peace, patience, and kindness
@preciousfro2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! And that is such a good point about the prayer!! It took me awhile to start doing that I think I would forget that he really should be involved in every aspect of our lives. Love that you were able to find that and that it helped you with your wash days! I definitely still struggle with overall maintenance as well still and it's all a work in progress. ❤️

I am so glad I found your channel. Your childhood hair journey is so very similar to mine. I have type 4 hair and I wore wigs and weaves until recently. My hair grew so long under those protective styles (especially after I stopped relaxing my hair) that ppl would ask me why I even wore weaves. This journey is real and I have a lot to learn about caring for my hair. Thank you for your inspiration!

I hear you but I hate really hate when I wear my hair. Then I put a wig back in and white people say oh my gosh I love your hair. YES YES I KNOW WE SHOULDNT CARE WHAT WHITES SAY BUT STILL. IT HURTS I WEAR WIGS BECAUSE MY HAIR GROWS MORE WHEN I DONT SEE IT. SO I’m 49 so I don’t really care. I also braid it but only when it’s the long wig do they compliment.🙄🙄🙄🙄😡😡😡so I’m old enough not to care but still. When my hair is long enough I hope to wear it out like yours. I do have revair. It’s only shoulder length and very thin at the back. So we shall see what. 3 more years brings

I hear ya. I've been there. It's easy to say don't care about what anybody else says but it can be hard to get there. Don't be too hard on yourself! We are all at different places in our journey. My suggestion would be to try and flood yourself with more images of women who have your hair type and really fall in love with your hair at every stage.
