You can start seeds any time of year if grown indoors. I grow all of mine indoors since winter is too cold here.

@@ramonasomaru0103 yup! Any time of year should work indoors. Ideally the seed will receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight. 🌞

I would like to know if you need to cut it back as it is about a foot tall with about 5 little leaves on it. I do see something leaves around the middle of the stem. Thank you

Hi! I’ve really been meaning to do an avocado pruning video on this soon as it is such a common question. It is. completely optional to cut the stem, and there are different methods for cutting. You can cut just above a node to encourage branching. You can also not cut at all and you will have a more lanky Avocado stem. Hope that helps! 🥑

Thank you for the video...I just put mine in water and I was wondering how often do you add nutrients to the water? Mine has two healthy roots and a steam peaking from the top
@RT1home Жыл бұрын
Hi Kim - I actually never add any nutrients when I grow in water! I'm sure it wouldn't hurt but I don't think it's necessary as I've been growing avocados for many years. If you plant in Soil it is helpful to add compost when you plant :)

I have read on multiple sources to snip the avacado stem down to 2 inches after it reaches 6-8 inches in height. Apparently it encourages branching, but I'm struggling to butcher my little baby 😅

The paper you use is baking paper ? Can we also use a small thin towel ?
@RT1homeАй бұрын
In this example, we are using leftover brown packing paper. We like paper as it is completely biodegradable, but you could also try this method using a thin towel.

Hello! It is completely up to you if you want to grow your avocado plant in water or soil. Typically, avocado plants will grow much faster and bigger in soil, as you are able to provide more nutrients. But if you prefer the look of the plant growing in water, you can do that too!

You can't grow it if it is already cut in half right?
@RT1home7 ай бұрын
Hello! Do you mean your avocado seed split in half and you have both sides? If it is split, you can try to wrap them together with wet paper and still try or try planting both halves together directly in soil. It’s worth a shot 😉

can i use a tupperware like container if i dont already own a silicon bag? would a glass jar work? does checking the seeds too often harm them in anyway? TIA ❤❤

Yes you can use any container that can be sealed / closed. I don't think checking the seeds is harmful, you just want to make sure they stay moist and don't dry out.

She doesn't say what the best soil is , or how deep to plant the❤ seed... Also my seeds always have a green tinge to the water along with this green clingy fluff , it doesn't appear to be inhibiting the growth or the seed looks like it's feeding it. I've just added fresh water when water got low ...what do you say ?
@RT1home2 ай бұрын
Hello - great questions! I have a link to the specific soil we used in the video description. But you can use any loose, well draining soil mix. If planting in soil, you will want to fertilize a few times a year when the tree is still young. I plant the seed so the top half is sitting above the Soil, but if your seed is damaged or shriveled you can just leave the top inch or so exposed. As for the green tinge, if the seed is green that is ok, but if there is green fluff, it is likely mold. I would gently clean the seed with a mild soap and water and same for the glass you keep the water in and replace with fresh water after cleaned. Let me know if that helps!

What if your root isn’t growing straight down?
@RT1home Жыл бұрын
You can gently try to re-direct it's growth, but as long as the root is still submerged in water, it really doesn't matter for growth. If you accidentally break the root/roots they will grow back! Just make sure the root is still able to absorb water. 💚
