"I live in France by the Mediterranean Sea. We have four seasons here: spring, summer, fall, and winter." The apricot tree (Prunus armeniaca) is a hardy fruit tree, but its resistance to cold depends on the growing conditions and the season’s progress: Winter Hardiness: Apricot trees can withstand cold winter temperatures, often down to 5°F to -4°F (-15°C to -20°C), and sometimes even lower for certain varieties. However, young trees and less hardy varieties may be more sensitive to low temperatures. Sensitivity to Spring Frost: Apricot trees bloom early in spring, making them vulnerable to late frosts that can destroy the flowers and impact the harvest. Temperatures between 28°F and 23°F (-2°C to -5°C) during flowering can damage the blooms. To grow an apricot tree in areas with harsh winters or late spring frosts, it's recommended to: Plant the tree in a sheltered, south-facing location. Protect young trees from cold winds. Choose varieties adapted to colder climates."
