Which one is the sweetest variety?
@mitre10nz3 жыл бұрын
Of these three, I'd say that Apollo is the sweetest. There are a couple of other varieties Kaiteri and Kakariki that are nice and sweet as well ^Meg

Can I grow it in part shade?
@mitre10nz3 жыл бұрын
Feijoas are pretty hardy and can be grown in most soils. However, they do prefer a sunny, well-drained position in the garden. They are generally frost hardy and will handle temperatures as low as -8 to -10 degrees once established. ^Nathan

My feijoas in Western Australia fruits become the size of a finger and then fall off. Too hot?
@Shaun.Stephens4 жыл бұрын
Too dry probably. They need water to fill out the fruit. People are growing them fine in California (when watering them) so you should be ok. Good luck.

what PH is the best?
@mitre10nz4 жыл бұрын
Hey Bernie, feijoas prefer slightly acidic soils with a pH of 6.0-6.5. High pH, alkaline conditions can cause stunted growth and leaf yellowing. I hope this helps mate! ^James

@@mitre10nz yep, Thanks. they have been struggling for 7 years, no fruit yet. I must have tossed some lime in before hand for water melons

You don't need any of that bagged stuff except the tree. Mulch with your own compost and mulch. Make your own stakes. Spend the money you save on more trees.

In all honesty. Their is enough Feijoa trees around as for when Feijoa season comes it's just a complete Onslaught of neighbours offering at least 1 to 3 bags full of them.
