How to Grow a Lemon Tree Outdoors
Lemons are the most sensitive to cold than all other citrus trees. Due to this cold sensitivity, lemon trees should be planted near the south side of the home. Lemon trees need some protection from frost. Growing them by a house should help with this. Lemon tree also require full sun light for good growth.
Lemon Tree Growing Indoors
Lemons can make excellent houseplants and will be comfortable in a container as long it provides adequate drainage and room for growth. Heights of around 3 to 5 feet tall can be expected for a lemon tree growing indoors. They also prefer well-draining, slightly acidic soil. Keep the soil evenly moist and fertilize as needed.
Lemon trees thrive within a normal temperature range of about 70 F. (21 C.) throughout the day and 55 F. (13 C.) at night. Keep in mind that they will usually go into dormancy when temperatures fall below 55 F. (13 C.)
Lemon trees require lots of light; therefore, they may need to be supplemented with fluorescent grow lights during winter.
The lemon tree (Citrus limon) is an evergreen that's sensitive to extended periods of cold and frost.
Lemon trees and other citrus fruits grow particularly well in tropical and subtropical climates. Sour citrus trees such as lemons don't require higher temperatures. How to Grow Lemon Tree from Seed Indoors FAST Germination

Everyone whinging about the hydrogen peroxide being a "chemical" should probably study a bit of chemistry before blowing chunks of hysterical word vomit. Water is H2o. Hydrogen peroxide is H2o2. Plants like Co2. Hydrogen peroxide provides the o2.

I f you squeeze the lemon by hand after cutting it in half you can get all the seeds out quickly and undamaged. There is really no need to do all of that. You don't need any special solutions either. Simply place the seeds on the paper towel, then wrap in foil paper, and place in a zip lock bag. Voila!!! done it a million times. Worked 100%.

I put 10 lemon peeled seeds on a paper towel and dampened them with plain water. No peroxide. Within 5 days i had roots on 5 of them. After another 6 days , 4 more sprouted. The other one never did. After 29 days i had 1 nice plant ( about 2 inches tall) that i transplanted into a small clay pot. The rest are doing well but not as tall ad the other one. Im just not sure if the peroxide is necessary. I do think peeling them really helps though. Jmo.

Nice video. Hey I have a question.. I already have a nice 5' or 6' little lemon tree.. I had it for 5yrs and still haven't seen any flowers on it.. it's an indoor tree, because I live in the state of Wyoming and summers are too dry and hot and winters are miserably cold from below zero temperatures.. you know what I can do to germinate my tree or speed up the process for the tree to produce? I love the tree and teas I can make with but also I don't wanna end up getting sick of it and ended giving up and giving the tree away.. Thank you! And thumbs up with a sub :)

+Juanita “Sissy” Humphries have a link for you. forums.gardenweb.com/discussions/1852556/meyer-lemon-tree-dropping-leaves This person nails it! florida_wannabe(Kansas) It needs humid air. The absolute worst thing (and the most common) that folks North (I am zone 5, Kansas) do is bring in there citrus indoors for Winter. Take it out to the garage and if your garage has a window, try to leave it to where it gets some sun, doesn't have to be a lot. Citrus needs about a month or so with temps below 50's and humid air. Your air in your house is WAY to dry.

Chandra Dasa They might, citrus often produce one fertilized embryo which is different from the parent and from the same seed, 2 or three clones of the parent plant called nucellar seedlings. if you have 2 or more seedlings formed from one seed you will have at least one clone of the parent plant, ie. same fruit and growth habit. good luck

Hi thanks for your great videos.Just wanted to ask,can you produce a fruit bearing tree from the seed of a hybridize fruit tree? Thanks,Trevor.
@mygardenchannel
@mygardenchannel 8 жыл бұрын
+Trev's Outback and Gold Adventures I would say yes and here is why. Hybridizing is basically taking pollen from one and pollinating to another. So that's what happens in nature. In the plant industry it is controlled and documented. That is the only difference. So when you think about taking a lemon seed from a store bought lemon and you grow it. You wont get the actual same fruit as the parent plant. You will have a cross hybrid with similarities of the fruit you bought. The only way to get an exact copy is to clone by budding or cutting off a part the mother plant.

becksta29 Yes I would advise not to dry them out, it will most likely kill them because they do not tolerate dryness. As soon as you get them from the lemon peel off the skin and get them in soil or damp paper towel inside a ziplock bag. If you have some put a small amount of hydrogen peroxide in the damp paper towel to curb mold or mildew growth, this will not hurt the seeds.

eggrollsoup oh okay thank you, I will do that next time for sure. Hopefully this helps me strike some seeds. I have struck some years ago but they died due to cold weather as I had them outside too early in cold weather.

I just want to mention that you didn't peel the lemon seed. Do you think it will germinate faster if that hard outer-shell is peeled? Also, are you aware that you can peel lemon seeds?
@mygardenchannel
@mygardenchannel 8 жыл бұрын
+Roaring Alone yes, that is correct. You may peel it if you like and it may germinate faster, its just not necessary.

You dont need any solution to make them germinate or grow faster if you peel the seeds. Dampening the paper towel with just water is fine if youre a beginner or cant find the chemicals easily like me :)
