Many called 'loofah' are man made and can be purchased for a lower cost. When a popular item really takes off, it's not uncommon for baby boomers to afix the name of the most popular brand to every item of the sort. For example, calling all vacuum cleaners 'hoovers'. Some might be loofah, but it'll usually be the dearer ones. :)

So you planted seeds in Feb and Sept you were picking them? That is pretty fast. I think I might try ONE batch and see what happens

Please let me know if you do! Yes, I started indoors. Last year I put seeds in ground in April and got nothing, so it definitely helped to start early indoors in a constant warm environment. Thanks for watching and please tune in to my livestream on Sunday at 10AM PST and join the conversation!

Love the outtakes 🤣. You are so so soothing and informative and I cannot believe that for 36 years of my life I believed Loofa came from the ocean!!! Lol. I so have to try growing these now. Also so sorry about your beautiful Wisteria. That had to be rough. But what a great way to move on with the coolest plant I have ever seen!!!🦋🌺💝🌻🌱🌿

I don't know how many times I have said this but I have to say it again every time I watch your video. I really like your garden! I wish I could have the same but not much of my space is getting good amount of sunlight and it is going to cost me a lot to do all the soil amendment, levering etc.-and it is not easily available as well. My family is planning to build a house, I hope I can therefore plan my dream garden from scratch. Grow bag it is then for now. =D

Hi, Missy! Where are you located? Are you a young person, then? Yes, not having a lot of sun is a disadvantage we share. I have to search for sun. I would love to take out the driveway, but where do we put our car, LOL. Grow bags are fine!! I do it all the time. I'm going to try growing brassicas in grow bags this winter because of all the grubs that have infested my wood chips. It should be interesting. :) Thanks for watching and your support!!

Wonderful! Everything changed on YT in 2016 when I made this video, and now I don't have the time to add bloopers and put all the extras in each video trying to upload several a week. Back then, I did two a month! Hope you visit my channel again here in Tennessee.

Yes, you are right. A sponge is an animal from the sea. They just call loofa a sponge because it can be used the same way. Sponge became a catchall word for anything used to scrub something.

This is so cool! I never knew that loofa was from a land plant 😅 When I was little I was fascinated by the pattern of them and it makes them even cooler that they came from a vine.

I grew a loofah plant and got about 15 loofahs from 1 plant. I live in the very sunny desert though. I have enough seeds to last a lifetime and I still have loofahs in my kitchen and bathroom 3 years later. It was a pain to remove once it turned yellow... it was HUGE. Now I grow grapes which I find more satisfying!

Yes, it is a cucumber plant. Same thing happens, when it's done producing it dries up and you pull it out. Definitely an annual.
