you should detail the process in the description. Such as how long you had the seed in the freezer and when you know it is time to move it to the fridge, pot, ground, etc.

You can make it much quicker with a graft of an older tree onto a young root stock. It can happen as quickly as two years

peaches are pretty fast, a lot of other fruit trees take 5-10 years. peach trees also don't last as long(30ish years IIRC).

That's fantastic! I can't wait to be in a place where I can grow peaches. Along with tomatoes, peaches are one of the main things I love that you just can't get a good one from the store- ANY store! My grandfather grew peaches since he was young and by the time I came along he had a well established mini-orchard on his property with carefully selected varieties not only with the characteristics he preferred and compatibility with the climate, but also so that he had fruit ripening from the various trees over quite a long period... It was wonderful! There's nothing like a good peach!!! Make sure you prepare & amend the soil properly, and carefully consider where exactly to put them since they are very susceptible to late frosts, etc. My grandpa ran into those issues at various points and sometimes had to learn some hard lessons. Best wishes & luck!!!

Thank you for the thoughtful comment! your right, the place we planted them (in the next video) gets full sun year round. I think the spot we picked is perfect :D I have planted a few more trees on the farm now, so there are apple, peaches, pear, and pecan. Were working on cherries from seed now, which are in the freezer as we speak! I can't wait to see how this all turns out in 5 years.

I’ve currently got a similar method going with nectarine and peach seeds. I read up that you can put the seeds into slightly dampened potting mix, in a jar, in the fridge. I made my own potting mix from course sand, very old compost, and worm castings at a 1:1:1 ratio.

Opps! I planted the seed and shell months ago. Remove the shell...important. I am off to try it again. I think I will plant them in a sterofoam container not to disturb the roots cause I don't have any experience with peach trees. Planted walnuts with the shells, placed them in a cold, dark, winter basement and they sprouted pre spring. Thanks for sharing

no more than 2 weeks! the freezer will activate the seed to begin to stratify.... if much colder than 36 degrees your chances of sprouting will drop significantly... so fridge for 4-6 weeks after the quick freeze spell.... good luck!

You actually don't have to freeze them. If you do it right you can get the to sprout in just a few days. Just take them out of the hard casing and put in damp paper towel and in a closed plastic container with clear lid. And sit it on a table top. The seed will root and you can plant them from there.

No problem, I talked to my dad and he had them in the freezer for 2 years! I am willing to bet just a few weeks would be good. We started with about 30 seeds and ended up (after a chipmunk snagged a bunch of fresh plants) about 10 trees. They can go in the freezer in a bag. When I switched to the freezer I put them in a moist paper towel, it didn't take long after that.

In watching some similar videos, the consensus seems to be to plant the seedlings outside in early, early spring after the last freeze. May I leave the peach seeds I have now (will be several months) and move to refrigerator at the appropriate time? Will they stay indefinitely in the freezer?
@KentuckyHomesteadFarm

There, by the local community peach called " KEMIRI DIENG " . In fact , if traced from his family , peaches not included in the family Kemiri . Although Peaches have started to be planted ( brought by the Dutch in antiquity ) peaches is not so popular in Dieng . Perhaps with a lot of knowledge about the development of a peach , it could be very profitable commodity in the future . Thank you for sharing experience. Fixed a passion for gardening . So when should you start to grow your seeds? and how many should you do to pollinate the tree's? when they are growing, do you put them all into one pot, or should they be individual, so that when you plat them in the ground, you're not ripping the roots apart. thank you!! :-)

Actually, the big pot I grew did the best. Those others have to be watered sometimes 2 times a day and I lost most of them. Over the weekend I planted 4 trees that were growing in that big red pot. (I have a video coming of the planting) they are approx 2.5 feet tall or so. The roots came apart very well. I put mine in the freezer, then the fridge in the shell. Once they start to germinate they will break the shell themselves.

Kentucky Homestead thank you,,are you serious chill for 3monts...?.someone else say for 24hrs,,,,thank you,,
@KentuckyHomesteadFarm
@KentuckyHomesteadFarm 7 жыл бұрын
24 hours is not long enough, what you are doing is called stratification, if the seeds do not get somewhere near 400 chill hours they will not germinate. This is a tree that has to have cold temperatures to germinate and produce fruit. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stratification_(seeds) read that to get an understanding of what the chilling is for.

I do not. I tried, but it mostly just damaged the actual seed.

1 Corinthians 3:6-9 King James Version (KJV) 6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. 8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. 9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.

Why it can’t be grown there:Although their skins are the color of a glorious summer sunset, growing peaches entails a chilling requirement, which is a minimum period of exposure to wintry weather. Without this crucial seasonal cue, the peach tree will not flower, and thus will not bear fruit. www.pepper.ph/fruits-veggies-cant-grow-philippines/

Best Answer: You can grow a peach tree in the Philippines but I think for it to bear fruit you need a degree of cold weather not available here. Peaches grown in Georgia are most prolific in a narrow zone where it gets a winter chill and avoids a late frost. A chill is required for the tree to bear fruit. answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071019051739AAEITSK

Don't worry! It can take up to, or more than 8 weeks!! As I said, mine were in the freezer for about a year or so before I got to them.. So the refrigerator time was short. A good resource to read over is here. www.alchemy-works.com/fall_planting.html It's pretty neat, but explains thing in writing.

@@KentuckyHomesteadFarm Do you let the shell dry out before you put it in the freezer? Do you get the seed out of the shell, dry it, and then let freeze the seed? I just got done canning some peaches tonight, and wanted to do something with all those seeds. I washed the shell and they are drying on a paper towel tonight.

@@ddintn191 just put them in the freezer as is tomorrow. Next spring put them in a moist paper towel and plastic bag in the fridge until they sprout.
