'How to Grow' Series - Zinnias!

I’ve heard of soil blocking and seen a few others share the process. I’m starting seeds for the first time this year, and can see where the space saving would be helpful. Thanks for sharing this specific flower varieties and their growing info, it’s helpful. I hope you’ll continue sharing the process of caring for the seedlings between now and planting them out. No one really shows how to care for seedling after they’re started, through the planting process… watering schedules, feeding, light, heat, etc.

900 zinnias, wow! They're going to be so beautiful. 😍 Will you have to upsize them into bigger soil blocks before they get planted out?

I haven’t had to upsize them yet, this is my third year growing them this way. I’ve heard zinnias can be fussy about their roots but I haven’t had that experience. 🙂🌸

Where did you get the humidity domes?

The large one is just from a garden centre, the small ones are lids for those tin foil lasagna pans! Handy and cheap 🙂🌸

What made you decide to start them indoors? I keep seeing to direct sow after last frost.

You can do both! Starting them earlier indoors just gives you a jump on blooms 🌸🙂

This is my second year growing cut flowers, last year I started indoors and transferred outside around mid April, but they didn’t do well, many of them died, I am in Vancouver zone 8B, When do you think I should direct sow zinnias outside?

Hope you have better success with direct sowing them! After your last frost is recommended. 🙂 🌸
