I don’t understand why some people are against cutting these trees. Do you not understand that these trees would not be grown unless people bought them. Look at how much oxygen they give off and how much carbon dioxide they consume over the 10 to12 years they are growing. Every Christmas tree that is cut down is replaced with a new one. It’s all about supply and demand. People who have fake Christmas trees are not contributing to the benefit these trees are making to the environment. It’s more damaging to the environment to produce and dispose of fake Christmas trees.

Constantly cutting down and chucking out trees after a few weeks every year Can’t be replaced simply because new ones are being planted. It’s fucking with the soil, you have a carbon footprint of shipping these big trees all over the world. It would make more sense for people to keep a Xmas tree in their garden and bring it inside at Xmas then replant it.

10 years of growing those beautiful trees to cut them down in seconds, then in a few weeks in the trash? I prefer artificial trees. Would it be better to keep those trees to create new forests

Fake Christmas trees release harmful toxins and chemicals in the air, even years after they’ve been made. Natural ones can be recycled, and obviously look and smell real.
@timadel6636 жыл бұрын
@@emilundblad9929 I disagree. real Christmas tree, after they thrown away and disposed to dumpsite, later theyll produce methane together with other natural wastes. methane are one of the highest form of greenhouse gas. on the other hand, if you use artificial Christmas tree, you can just reuse it year after year. We've been using the same Christmas tree for 2 decades now

Not every seed in nature was destined to become an adult tree. It's a crop in the plantation.

@@timadel663 youre a complete nutbar. Methane from real trees? Fallen trees are some of the most beneficial foods to the woodland ecosystem. And they dont throw them in a landfill. They chip em and sell them back to us as garden mulch at 5 dollars a bag

I spent about $500 on an artificial tree. It’s beautiful, and we’re going to keep for years to come. I don’t understand cutting down a live tree to keep it for a few weeks and then throwing it away.

Matthew...the human heart longs for and appreciates beauty for its own sake. If everything was utilitarian you would never get a hair cut, or new shirt, or car, or I-phone, or a flower, or even enjoy a non consumable like a sunset, or the blue light of a cold winters' day. None of those things are necessary, but we like change and beauty and freshness. Plus, we get to help others earn a respectable livelihood growing and harvesting a renewable resource that does no harm to the environment. (:

It takes 2-3 years to grow asparagus - put it on a plate and it's gone in 4-5 minutes. It takes 5-10 years to grow, harvest, and process ginseng - minutes to consume it. Farmers all over the world plant and grow flowers, fly them to market where people buy them, look at them for a few days, and throw them away. Christmas trees are just another crop: Plant it, grow it, harvest it, use it. Nothing unusual or bad about it.

In the U.S. the trees are sheared periodically while growing which makes them fuller and gives them a conical, perfect shape. That has been the trend in the States since the 70s. But in Europe, where this video is from, it's still more common to grow and sell unsheared trees, like it was in the U.S. before the 70s. Unsheared trees have a natural shape, more space between branches, and the branches tend to be longer.
