Hi Lucas, Sunrise Bumblebee - YAY! Such a favorite little tomato and always a great yield. So glad to see your videos during the winter, makes it easy to envision my new 2023 garden. Looking forward to more gardening tips. Thanks!

Yeah I like it. The plants seem quite disease resistant and have a small footprint in the garden. Flavour is good too!

I got like 12 super sweet 100 plants, pretty excited to see what they do. I have 4 tomatoes growing already and i haven't put them in the garden yet. I plan on putting some migrale grow in when i do. Some of the leaves have slightly little odd colors on them. not sure why . Thanks
@lucasgrowsbestyt Жыл бұрын
Awesome! SS 100 is a great cherry variety. The oddly coloured leaves could be due to a variety of factors.. overwatering, too much/too little fertilizer, etc.

@@lucasgrowsbestyt would you still fertilize them lightly if there where under the grow light for 2 weeks until i can plant in the grown because we have a frost here in 2 weeks, thought the extra fertilize would help them keep growing. thanks so much. trying to get these supersweet 100, 5 feet when i plant them in the ground lol. thanks again

This year I started Thai Peppers, Garden Leader Monster Tomato, Beefsteak, Gigantomo (I was told that they grow large 3 lbs tomato, hopefully not a scam) and some brandywines.

@@lucasgrowsbestyt I had grown them at a good size...until my sister killed them in a clumsy act. So I picked up a knife and.... cut the dead tomatoes and restarted them, wish me luck!

Question! I have been looking at purchasing nursery pots on Amazon to use for transplanting the seedlings into 3-4” pots. I see you’re using red solo cups?? Do you feel they work just as well? Much cheaper if I can use those 😮😳
@lucasgrowsbestyt Жыл бұрын
Hi Emily, you bet! I have been using the solo/party cups for years and they do the trick just fine. The only thing is you'll need to cut drainage holes in the bottom. Check out this clip for how to do that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y2qTfZiBhbmkpKs

What's the ambient temperature down in the basement? My seedlings are started they just aren't looking like they are making progress to their true leaves. Not sure if it is nutrition or just a temperature thing at this point.
@lucasgrowsbestyt Жыл бұрын
It's around 62 F I think. It could be a temp issue. Can you describe your setup/soil/lights?
@wormulous Жыл бұрын
@@lucasgrowsbestyt I have 5500 lumen shop lights. For the soil I have perlite peat moss and a small amount of compost in the cells. I'm not sure of the ambient temps, but i think the last time i checked it was around the 60 degree mark and soil was approx 70. I might just be being impatient as well. Figure I'll go ahead and give them another week or so to "do something" and see how it goes. I think I saw a small glimpse of potential true leaves starting yesterday.

@@lucasgrowsbestyt I have! And it looks crazy good. That's why I decided to try Big Beef first because there is nobody in KZbin that confirmed Big Beef Plus was any better and if anything, they said it was the same. So I decided Big Beef because plenty of people have shown that it yields like crazy and is a pretty strong plant.

@@lucasgrowsbestyt by current goal is for a tomato plant to get 10lbs for every 5 gallons of soil. So from some beefsteaks that will be in 15 gallons pots, I'd like 30 lbs. My end goal, however, is to find a good tasting tomato or few varieties that I can get a ridiculous amount like 100lbs off a plant. Like that's 1600oz. 10oz/tomato equals about 160 tomatoes in a season 😂

I think I'm gonna try skipping the 72 cell and planting directly into the solo size cups this time. I had 100% germ last year and the tiny cells were difficult to repot and why not skip that step? We'll see how that goes.
