Great tips! I plant borage near my cucumber plants. The bees go crazy over the blossoms and pollinate the cucumbers while they're at it. Also, young borage leaves are delicious in a cucumber salad, chopped very fine. The beautiful blossoms are edible too, and they actually taste like cucumber.

I have a cucumber plant right now that has the fruit growing very short and fat, not oblong like a cucumber should be. So I did some research and the best answer I could come up with was poor pollination. So I'm going to plant some flowers in and all around my garden that will attract pollinators. We live and we learn.

Hey Justin. Been watching ur videos 4 little bit. I got all my cucumbers grow vertically and pruned really good. I have nothing but male buds on my vines and not single female bud\blossom. Also having little black sugar ants on the blooms. I was looking 4 way knock em back without using chemicals. I used 50\50 white vinegar and water 2 knock ants off and turned my leaves yellowing and dieing. What can I do bubba. Thanks

The female flowers are attached to the end of the fruit. The male flower isn't @ the end of the fruit.

It’s a pollination problem. You can remove some of the leaves so the bees can see and get to the flowers easier. You can also hand pollinate zucchini.

Do you have issues with cucumber beetles? I find and squish them every morning but leave a few for pollination because of few pollinators. It is believed that the beetles spread disease when I squish them, but that could be a result of germ theory belief. What's your experience with the beetles?
