We grow Prunus Laurocerasus in full sun or full shade here in Salt Lake City, Utah (zone 7b) and can take temps up to 110 F in full sun and still look great. They are really tough plants.

Mine are starting their 2nd year and I hope they take off. They grew a good bit on year 1 too.

What are your thoughts on the Cherry Laurel?
@MarkofDreams6 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim thank you for this video! How far apart should I plant these if I am wanting a dense privacy fence? I was going to go with Leyland Cypress until I saw your video on that one and the issues that can happen with ice. I live in upstate SC which is pretty common for us to have ice.

Jim any recommendation of the skip laurel vs ligustrom recurvifolium for a fence screen in northern alabama?

Hey I’m not Jim, but I do know that the cherry laurel does well in part shade, and the Ligustrum Recurvifolium would prefer full sun.

Hi Jim, I’m enjoying your videos and learning a great deal! I need some help with laurels. I have 6 of these planted along my front foundation. There are extremely hardy and grow like crazy but in a terrible location. I want to move them. Are they easy to move and when is the best time to do that? They’ve been there a couple of years and I can’t stand looking at them much longer! Thank you for your help.

Jim, thanks this is a great video. Question: do you know if these can be grown with/ or where black walnut trees have grown/ are growing?

How far apart should I plant if I want to create a hedge? I purchased schip cherry laurels in a ball and burlap bag. Also, do I remove burlap? TIA

Hi Jim, my 6ft. laurel is getting leggy. The bottom 1/3 has no leaves. Should I be concerned can I make them fuller?
@JimPutnam4 жыл бұрын
They can be pruned now. That would help force new growth and allow more light to get to the bottom of the plant

Jim. I was wanting to buy 25 of this English Laurel but I heard that they are very invasive will reach 40 feet tall and take away the sun light of the neighbors. They recommend Portugee's Laurel Prunus lusitanica. I have hard time finding it. Do you know who sell those? Thank you.

My parents have some skip cherry laurel in rural Oregon and the deer and elk avoid them
