Love your hair and locs. I'm just coming from a 2nd big chop above shoulders April 2021. Hair is now around BSL to mid back, braid locs installed 2/2022. I agree with your tips. Especially about drinking enough water, keeping your hair moisturized and clean. Not being a product junkie. Also, remember to wrap your hair up for bed. These tips are a game changer! 🤗🙏🏻

i do frequent protective hairstyles over my locs but to make sure my locs are mosturized i rub in some plain castor oil or castor oil mixed with water on my roots to prevent itchiness after a retwist or when wash day is coming up, great video!!💕

Hey Queen . Congrats on your loc journey ! Locs are already a protective style for natural hair. Be careful with adding extra weight to them because overtime it will damage and make the locs thinner/weaker . I learned the hard way .

Tbh the only thing I use is my hair other than shampoo and conditioner is oil and water... Whenever my hair feels dry I spray it down... In the morning and in the evening since it keeps the moisture longer at night. Idk if it sounds weird but my hair just grows and people always ask me what I use 👀. I've been natural for 6 yrs but I cut my hair of every 2 years because at a certain length it becomes a hassle. I recently cut off my hair in August and I want to loc my hair so bad. I need to get a satin bonnet thou.

Hey, I can most definitely relate! I use water and oil and go about my way lol over the years I’ve realized that I don’t need a bunch of fancy products because water goes a long way! Yes sis get you a satin bonnet or pillow case, I love them both. Thanks for sharing :)

Aww welcome to the loc community 🥰 to be honest, when I first started I didn’t put anything in my hair and that was because I had a loose texture. All I did was wash and retwist every 6-8 weeks but it really depends on your texture. You should be able to use a light weight oil and rose water as needed throughout the week. I wouldn’t do more than twice a week . Hope this helps !

I just had coils put in... how long do I need to wait before I begin to moisturize?
@LatoyaClark
@LatoyaClark 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sharon, when I first started my locs I waited a few weeks before I started putting any product on my hair. I think it depends on your hair type though. Sometimes a light oil is ok but I know some stylist prefer their clients to wait until after the first retwist. If your coils were started professionally , I would ask the loctitian just to be sure. Thanks

@LatoyaClark
@LatoyaClark 3 жыл бұрын
Hi and thanks for watching !! I really hate an itchy scalp but I notice that anything that contains peppermint oil or tea tree oil helps with the itchy , dry scalp. Just make sure you mix it with another carrier oil or some water to dilute it.

What natural hair grease do you recommend?
@Sweetiesplanet
@Sweetiesplanet Жыл бұрын
Just use natural oils as she suggested. Experiment to see what YOUR hair responds to best! I was using just coconut oil and water; spritzing with water everyday sometimes twice but found that it wasn't enough so now I use a combination of organic essential oils. I absolutely LOVE the scent of lemongrass. I still use majority coconut oil mixed with just a few drops of tea tree (very strong medicinal smell), peppermint, lavender, more lemongrass because that's how I want to smell and my hair seems to have improved overnight. I spray a concentrated version of this directly on my scalp once a week so far but sprits the watered down version on my hair whenever it feels like it needs some extra moisture. I'm only 7months in and loving the journey; such a spiritual experience. Learning how to take care of my locs and watch how they take care of me...is AWESOME!!!

Is stylíng of dreadlocks bad for dreadlocks?
@LatoyaClark

I wouldn’t say that it was bad, just have to be careful with the tension on your scalp and hair. Make sure styles aren’t pulled too tight.
