Beautiful design, as always dear Din! This week, like last week, I have been mending old clothes. Last week I mended my own jeans with applique hearts. This week I mended jeans for my son, fixing the hems which had become torn. I also re-sized some underthings to make them fit better. These are small and invisible gifts, so may not be as exciting as your beautiful creations. But they are useful, and it gives me a proud feeling to know I'm extending the life of things that might otherwise be thrown away. I even mended some old shoes. The fabric had shredded where the foot goes in, and I covered it with a beautiful new layer of fabric so they appear almost as new! I was surprised that worked, but it did. They were sneakers I have worn for years, and now I think I have another year or two I can wear them. This week I'm intending to sew new cafe curtains for my bedroom. I have some old sheer fabric shower curtains to recycle for it. One is elegant gray stripes, the other is a pink floral which look good layered together, so I will make a two-layered curtain and valance. I hope when they are put up they will give me enough privacy that I can open my bedroom blinds to get better light while still not letting people see into my bedroom. Of course they aren't nice natural fabrics like you use, but at least they were bought secondhand and being re-used so that I rescued something from the landfill for a while longer. My next project after that will probably be something about sewing a rice pack into some slippers to keep my feet warm all winter when I'm sitting here at the computer.

Marialla how wonderful that you have incorporated a sustainable lifestyle with your family. ❤️ Your son will learn more from your quiet daily examples than a thousand lectures from his school. If you have the time, sew small (pillowcase) covers for the rice packs and embroider a design/monogram on each. 3 or 4 combined lengths of sewing thread will do if your short on floss. 🍄🍄 Take care and be safe 😷

Dear Din, it IS ALWAYS a Pleasure to sit with a cup of tea and quietly enjoy your videos. My husband and I have a working farm. It keeps us going with hard work and long days. A life we would not complain about or leave. I sew a lot, however the simplicity that comes with your Precious time and Beautiful videos is something I look forward to as well as learn from. Even my husband gets a kick out of the ones I share with him. So again, thank you for sharing. Looking forward to more. Have a Beautiful day.

Simplistic and beautiful, both. I am so impressed by the way you’re able to sew a perfectly straight line of stitches and cut fabric straight without a ruler or markings. ❤️

Oh my, I'm new on here. It's so inspiring to see someone else hand sew things. I like to hand sew even though I have arthritis in them, but I think it helps to keep them limber. I have sewed my husband 2 wallets all by hand. The first one he used for guite awhile, but finally the zipper didn't work. So I took it apart & put another one in. Then finally the wallet was getting worn & the zipper too. So I decided to make him a new one. So I did, after a couple yrs or so the zipper messed up. I didn't want to take it out again. So I decided to just sew another zipper over the other one. I made the zipper wider on each side with bias tape like the other wallet. Then sewed it in. So it worked. Now I'm doing the same thing on his old wallet. I put a new front on it. Then sewed the zipper with the bias tape sides & a few new things inside that was wearing out. It's looking like a new wallet. I'm still working on it. It's fun to figure things out. Also I have been putting patches on my husband's jeans some shirts & his shorts. This one pair is all most a new pair of shorts. I've been putting patches over patches & it's fun to do! I have done some of my things too! I'm so glad you're making things all by hand. I've made bags, dolls & stuff animals by hand also. So keep the videos coming! ♥️☺️

Thank you so much for getting close with the camera so I could really see how you were using the ladder stitch to applique the decorative stripes on as well as close the two bags together. Extra thanks for showing how you did that around the straps and closure cord. Your backstitch lines are perfect. You've clearly mastered your craft and I aspire to such skill. Love your videos!

I cannot sew as pretty as Din, but I can suggest that to improve your hand sewing it may help to use small-checked woven gingham fabric. The checks can help you keep your lines straight and stitches even. Then your hands learn muscle memory as they practice good sewing over and over. Also, I highly recommend using a well-fitting thimble. (My thimble is homemade out of thin leather.)
