17 for 17! Jason, I love to see your smiling face on these videos. It really helps to be listening to ground to catch what a nearby airplane may have received for an instruction/clearance. Excellent readback and note taking on the iPad. Outstanding, Mr. Schappert!

That controller gave the instructions in a very clear and calm way. Even I could pick them up! Now using Live ATC listening to eg KJFK, that is a whole other ball game! :D

17 for 17. Pass mid project. We’re getting close. Good example of a complex airport. You can see a difference with typical basic airports when you start flying. Keep going !!!

It's one thing to capture a complex taxi departure clearance. A bit harder to capture the same after landing. I find for departure you can also listen to the other clearances to know what to expext. You don't have that after landing. 😊

17/17. During a biannual recently an aircraft was disabled on a critical runway taxi intersection. So the taxi instruction was like. Taxi alpha at alpha 4 cross runway 17right, foxtrot to bravo. Hold short holding point bravo runway 31 right. Managed to avoid the delays just. Every aircraft after me got told expect extensive delay. Only way it worked was to have my pen and drew as he spoke on the airport diagram. I’m still old school and use knee board with paper.

A couple times this summer, they closed one of the two middle taxiways leading off the runway at PSM (Portsmouth NH), which is my home field. Anyone who knows anything about PSM knows that it has one of the most insane runways in the northeast…in fact, its sole runway is both longer than anything at Logan and was used as a potential landing/abort/whatever site for the space shuttle. That leads to a whole new world of weirdness for both taxiing and flying. There were a few times this summer I turned base at *the runway threshold* then touched down well past midfield before taxiing over a mile to get back to the ramp. Taxiway closures can lead to all kinds of oddball situations and you definitely wanna be ready for all of them.

17 for 17. I'm getting better with my iPad, but I mostly use a laminated white piece of paper with a dry erase marker on my kneeboard to write down all taxi instructions. And maybe I'm a little over the top, but I print out all my airport diagrams in advance and laminate them as a backup for my ForeFlight diagrams. Thanks for the video's, Jason.

Using FF certainly makes this easier. I use the color green for my cleared "pathway" and red for everything that is not cleared such as "hold short" areas but also, as in this case, areas that I don't want to end up going by mistake. So, I just put a red dot in this case at the intersection of "C" taxiway and RWY 5/23 and one at the end of my taxi at D1 and RWY 5

17 for 17, enjoying the content. If I'm unsure on the instructions and I don't know the airport, I ask for progressive taxi. I used to think that it was probably annoying to the controllers, so one day when I was in the tower I asked them and they said they don't mind at all. :)
