How To Hang A Curtain Rod With Command Hooks | Wil Mikahson

Hey Family,
After a year in my apartment, I finally put the finishing touch on it. In this video, I'm going to quickly share with you how I hung a curtain rod with command hooks. Yup, you read that right. Wil, one word of caution! you should not use the strips that come with this particular hook. Please purchase strips that indicate it will hold up to 12-16lbs. You can stick these on the back of your hooks. Unless of course you will only be hanging sheers. In addition, the rod should actually fit down into the curve of the hook for best use, for example "3/4 or "5/8. Just being helping from trial and sure enough the error!

Good job ! A friend who is very familiar with the Command hooks warned me that yes, it's gonna be flush to the wall and don't use grommet curtains. So I exchanged the purchased ones for a set of rod pocket curtains. Love the idea of using Command hooks for a rental !!!

I literally just did this two days ago! It came out good but the only thing is the command hooks don’t come out far from the wall so the curtains tend to look a little smushed to the wall. Other than that they look good and was super easy

I have watched other videos where they are using less than 1 inch of curtain rod so that it fits into the hook just right and the curtains where light material so that it won't fall. Just an FYI

I did a search here on KZbin for “blackout curtain rods” and when your video came up I clicked on it because the image was so beautiful - but omg - I did not expect this. I have curtain rods but was looking for rods that hang super close to the window for my blackout curtains as regular rods are so far from window and let a lot of light through the top - this literally solves the problem, and I don’t have to buy new rods!! It’s super easy. Just make sure you let the hooks sit for a while before hanging And you should be fine 👌🏾

I kept searching on solutions for a room I recently painted but didn't want to install any curtain hardware as we are moving in a couple of years and I wanted the walls to be free of holes. This is brilliant. I have put my hooks up already and am just waiting for the panels to arrive tomorrow. Great idea. Thanks for sharing.

I watched this video last week and I loved the way these curtains looked with these hooks in your room. Well I went and bought the same hooks and some curtains. Got them both from Walmart. I followed the steps, step by step. But the curtains keep falling. One of the hooks stays put but the right hook just falls down in the middle of the night scaring me half to death lol are there any suggestions on how I can make both of the hooks stick. I no longer have any more strips.

I saw a video suggesting to use the command large painting strips on the back of the hooks. The large painting adhesive holds up to 15/16 pounds.

Thank You! My command hooks are doing just fine, contrary to the outcome of a few others who tried this method. I think that the weight of the curtains has a lot to do with the durability. My curtains are quite weighty and they hold up well with the 5lb hooks. I JUST found out that there are 7lb books but they’re white plastic. I think you’ll be fine. I have heard far more success stories than not. I’m always here to throw in my two cents when needed 😉. Just let me know - good luck!

Very nice. I loved the color choice as those were the panels I chose in my head for your room. I never thought to use commands hooks to hang curtains. I hate when I drill a hole to hang something and it’s incorrect then I have to putty up the hole. I’m going to try this method the next time I have to hang curtains as this looks easier and the outcome was great.

Did they stay up? I'm using the hooks with the 16lb strips and they're still falling down. The curtains are 4.95lbs and the rod is lightweight. I'm gonna try a third in the middle to see if that helps.
