How To Hang A Samsung The Frame TV With No Gap

Like most of you we had been lusting over this TV for well over a year. But with a perfectly functioning TV hanging on our wall we just couldn’t justify the investment...and it is an investment. That all changed when we decided to renovate our Living Room as part of the One Room Challenge. With the design of the new space locked in, the only missing piece was The Samsung The Frame...so we pulled the trigger.
Two major features sold us - the art mode and the no gap mount. This video is to show you exactly how you can accomplish a true no gap mount with the Samsung The Frame TV, because many have gotten it wrong.

How would you suggest doing an install of the Frame similar to yours but with an already existing fireplace? I won’t be able to run the one connect wire through the wall sideways because of the studs. Is my only option to have the wire come out basically flush with the mantle and then run it sideways off the mantle as “hidden” as possible? Thanks!

I know this is an old video…but question…did you have to drill through studs to get the optical cable out the right side of your fireplace to your box? How did you drill through via such a tiny opening behind the TV?

we love this idea! we got inspired for our new house and will most likely do exactly the same. we are still figuring out how to build the wall behind the tv, at this moment is too narrow and needs a few inches more

I have a 55 inch tv Frane. How many inches should my work box be above the bottom of the tv? I’m building out my wall for this tv above my fire place and need to figure out the exact location.

Hi Drew. The design has changed a bit so we can't tell you the exact place. What we do is measure from the top down to the 2nd curve for the cord slot and place your box center at that measurement. We talk about that in the video. Hope that helps.

I want to buy a frame TV and put it above my fireplace. I’m not sure how this is possible when the one Connect box will be in the space where the fireplace is located. Can someone explain this to me? Are you still enjoying the frame TV?

Its a mess. They need to make the tv without the one connect box.The one connect box is the problem. You need to cut a hole in the wall to hide the box. Then spacle paint over it. Plus the wire is not wall rated. Such a dumb idea, since we all have wifi and apps today. We don't need a one connect box.

@@ralphcramden428 hi ended up buying an old lead LG model. The picture quality is much better than the frame TV. The colors are much richer and it was easy to insall.

Man ... such a great TV and great install but too many practicalities to deal with for me to buy it. I can't get it. I wanted to embed an extendable wall mount in the stud wall but looks like that optical wire will be a hassle to deal with. And then, hdiing away the component box, and then and then ... for a clean install like this though, it's perfect. Gutted ... wish there were alternatives out there.

Quick question. I'm pretty close to getting this tv but I'm wondering how you ran the one connect cable in the wall. As it carries power to the TV, you have to get the in-wall rated version. Is that what you guys did? Or did you run conduit behind the TV? Thanks!

They didn't use an in-wall rated cable. This installation is not to code.

You know, we're not sure! The specs don't seem to have changed from a size perspective. But we have found that the bezels are hard to find for sale on Amazon, which is where we got ours. I would check other sites like Best Buy or perhaps Samsung.

What’s a one connect box?

It comes with the TV and it is what you connect all your other components into (cable/satellite, hdmi, etc). It also converts the electricity from the wall outlet to whatever is appropriate for the included cable (which carries BOTH the audio/video and electricity to the tv itself).

@@ericgilson9181 its this large box that is connected by a wire. That hangs down from your tv. It is the box that stops people from buying this tv. In order to hide the box. You need to hire someone to either hide the box inside your wall. Which is not safe. Or run the wire from your outlet to an adjacent outlet. If you already have a fireplace installed. This wont be possible. Since studs wont allow you to run the wire down to the side. I was all set to buy this. Until the guys in best buy explained how the one connect box works. All they have to do is get rid of the one connect box. I have you tube tv. I don't need anything else other than a wall outlet. Which is already there. Great idea, but really dumb execution.

so you have to figure out how to create a hole in the wall for your chord to run through that has access to power? I'm a decently handy person but don't really have too much home construction/electricity knowledge, but I feel like the video is missing a more thorough explanation of how to find a spot tin your wall that will run the chord to a power outlet. Definitely not easy. Needs more explanation.

The cable shown carries both power and video/audio signal to the tv. So no need to connect the tv directly to an outlet. The box on the other end of the cable shown is what connects to an electrical outlet. My bigger concern is that they appear to have used the standard cable that is included with the tv rather than the cable you need to order separately (for $230) that is shielded for in-wall use.

No, we noticed. But it's to the side of the TV. It doesn't distort the view from our couch, and since it's a piece of art, It adds to the ambience!

They didn't mention that the included cable isn't wall-rated, which means it could burn down your house and it wouldn't be covered by insurance. Make sure to get the wall-rated cable from Samsung.

This tv is a great idea, but the system to install is ridicules. Every install video never shows you the one connect box. Which you have to hide inside the wall. It is about 10 INCHES BY 4 INCHES. Other wise you have this wire hanging down from your fire place and the box visible. Great idea, but just a dumb application. Everything is wireless today and we have apps for everything. Really no need for a one connect box. They should make that an option. I have you tube tv. All I need to is a wall out let to plug in the tv, I don't need that ridicules one connect box.
