Hello Thanks for the great reviews. Pls does that mean that for powering the thinkware, only the connector will go into the bat from the provided output cable and that's all (the black, yellow and red wires will not be used)? Thank you

This video is only for how to hook up the dash camera to the output cables of the battery pack. We do not talk about how to connect to the vehicle at all in this video

@@SafeDriveSolutions Yes I know, I am talking about that too. I meant that in order to connect the thinkware to the output cable, will the connector alone be the one to be used (which will go to the battery port on the dashcam "bat")?

@@musaadedibu9316 I am confused by the question. The video shows you to use the hardwire cable. If you do not have a hardwire cable with your dash camera you will need to purchase a hardwire cable.

Good video Ben, a bit cluttered but good. I would like to comment on the Blackvue connector that you displayed. That looks like what we call a TRS connector. Tip, Ring, Sleeve. You are correct about the wiring being different on the TRS based on manufacturer. The Viofo A229 Pro has a TRRS connector that goes from the Interior IR camera to the main dash cam body. That would be a Tip, Ring, Ring, Sleeve connector. It looks like the BV power connector you showed is maybe a Tip, Sleeve ( hard to see with clarity) and is simply power and ground only. If one does not know what they have, they can power it up and use a DVM to see where voltage is.

Ben I have an Iroad powerpack pro 12 to connect up to my Viofo 2ch A139pro. I currently have it hardwired using the HK3-C cable. Parking mode works well. Whenever I park in my garage I always power off the dashcam. If the vehicle sat unused for a couple of weeks will the powerpack still draw power even with the dashcam turned off. Also is the constant power 20amp fuse supplied a bit high considering it charges at a max of 8 amps? Would it be safer to use a 15amp fuse? I guess I’m talking fuse tap even though I know you like to solder all the wires. It is a much better way to do it I know.

The powerpack will not draw power. The is no load on the battery pack. However Battery pack just sitting there I have not tested this but I do know other people who have and they do say the battery will lose some of its charge.

Well you probably want a battery pack that will allow you to plug into a cigarette lighter plugin for charging. Iroad has a cigarette lighter adaptor, powercell 8 does as well.

Just installed a Viofo a229 pro 3 channel system and a Thinkware ivolt xtra into a '22 Tacoma but Hubby got frustrated because he couldnt figure out how to hardwire it. We took it to an installer yesterday and they hooked it up to the back of the cigarette lighter and now the thinkware is completely dead. Its been such a headache. Might have to take it to another installer because we just cant figure out which fuses to use. Appreciate the video, it helped a little.

We typically do not use fuse taps. If you take dash apart there is a thick gauge wire. We always solder the wire to that with an atm fuseholder. Then we hardwire ignition and ground.

Ben..regarding the viewer comment about the fuse box. How about showing that some fuse positions are ACCESSORY and some are ON. In my Outback I have a VIOFO A229 Pro on the front windscreen fused to ON and the rear A229 Pro fused to ACCESSORY. The home installer should be aware of where their ignition key is turned to when using a probe to look for power, as what is powered in ACCESSORY can be different from what is powered in ON.
