Nice job. You followed the principles of presenting information. "Tell them what you're gonna tell them, TELL THEM, Then tell them what you told them". Works everything to get information sunk into someone's mind! I've got a few S/F heads I need to harvest so this is good information for me. Thank you.

I grew one this year the biggest i ever grew over 6ft tall. I would of had more but the critters got the seeds I planted. It was fun watching how tall it got

I had a 30oz coffee can full of seeds from last year I had collected so earlier this year I planted alot, just poke them 1/2" in the ground close together. As they start growing I thinned them out leaving the best looking seedlings to grow. I even planted a few more a month afterwards and they grew quickly catching up to the rest. I found alot of sunflowers just randomly growing all around yard, must have been from the squirrels last year collecting and burying the seeds everywhere. I probably mowed down more than I had planted.

I’m growing mammoth and two other species of sunflowers. Two are specifically called “snack” sunflowers (including the mammoth ones).. Did I make a mistake planting all three types? I have them labeled and there is such a difference between them. The snack ones really attract the bees. My mammoths are HUGE but haven’t flowered yet

Great video, I got given some mammoth heads today, will follow your advice on how to dry them. Just wondering how long they take to dry out so they are like your dried out brown one?

How do you make sure the sunflower bugs don't get them before harvesting? Mine were full of Itty bitty black worms, I think they are called sunflower moths

Why do you have to let the sunflower heads dry until they are brown to harvest the seeds? Can you harvest seeds when the head is yellow or if the seeds look plump and are already starting to fall out even if the head isnt brown yet?
@Ninabeana133 ай бұрын
They’re easier to remove when dry. Also they keep well with no moisture, add a little silica packet from a pill bottle. They will mold if there’s a hint of moisture. You can regrow the next year with those seeds. Also you can roast a fresh sunflower head with garlic, oil, and plenty of seasonings. Tastes like a nutty artichoke.

I can’t find an answer anywhere, did you ever re-grew a sunflower head? I planted one last year, and cut the head when it was pretty small Now my sunflower grew very, very tall And I have a new flower !!!
