You seem to really know your stuff. I like the way you pause when you speak and don't rush too much. (Some KZbinrs speak way too fast!) You explain everything well. I learned a lot from this video. Thank you 😊 I subscribed and I don't even have a garden 😁

Great tips. Love the tip about leaving the first lisianthus bloom to start to fade. Can you do a video on what flowers you net and stake?

Hi! I learn so much from your videos-thank you! I’m not a flower farmer, just like to spread the joy of flowers from my garden. If you could, in the future, would you talk about making deep cuts? With the zinnias, I noticed you cut below a branching stem, sacrificing two blooms. It kills me to do that! But should I?
@twosistersflowerfarm2 жыл бұрын
Glad you're here! Yes, that is a topic that I can absolutely talk more on 💛 Cutting deep is hard to do because you feel like you're sacrificing stems but it's so worth it- you're rewarded with more flowers and much longer stems!

Thanks for your videos. Your Zinnias are so perfect. I find I get so many variations of the zinnias from the same plant. Some single, some full. What is your secret? Also are these Benary Giants? I am experimenting this year and just trying to learn. Bigger garden next year!
@twosistersflowerfarm2 жыл бұрын
Yes, these are the Benary Giants! You're absolutely right, you can get a lot of variation from your zinnia plants. I don't necessarily have a secret- but I think our zinnia plants get better the more I cut from them :) Regularly harvesting from them should help you a lot.

How about making a masking tape grid on the top of the snapdragon bucket. Will hold the stems upright.
@twosistersflowerfarm Жыл бұрын
It’d definitely be worth a try 💛 it might limit the number of stems you’re able to harvest per bucket - but you never know til you try it out

Have two questions I'm new grower and one of my question is why my zinnias are so small? Second question why my sunflowers bloomed when my plants were small? Thank you
@twosistersflowerfarm2 жыл бұрын
With the zinnias, it could be something as simple as the variety. We grow the "Benary Giant" zinnias because they produce larger flower heads- there's plenty of other zinnias that are beautiful, but have smaller blooms- Oklahoma series, the Queen Lime series, etc. You may have to do some investigating with the sunflowers- there's lots of reasons why you may have experienced smaller plants- it could be not enough water, soil doesn't have enough nutrients. If they were planted early- an early cold snap may have stunted their growth. The best practice is to keep trying! Good luck!

I've noticed sunflowers bring back babies (if I've forgotten to pull them from the soil) - do you just cut one and done, or do you welcome the smaller ones that pop up after? I use the pro cut series mostly.
@twosistersflowerfarm2 жыл бұрын
I always welcome flowers whether they were intentionally planted or not ;) but I don't always cut those smaller babies that you're referring to. We plant sunflowers almost every week during the summer to ensure a continuous harvest- so my focus is usually spent on whichever block of sunflowers is blooming. I just am not in the habit of going back to cut from previous blocks- though you certainly can :)
@Littlebitesofjoy2 жыл бұрын
@@twosistersflowerfarm thanks so much - does that mean you pull out the sunflower after you cut it? I love your channel, I've learned loads, thank you!

Do you plant sunflowers into landscape fabric?
@twosistersflowerfarm2 жыл бұрын
Normally I don’t. The sunflowers grow so fast that they outpace any weeds but this row in the video is planted in fabric since I didn’t have anything else ready for that space. 😀

How do you not get any bug damage on zinnias? If I wait until they're ready for cutting, they have a lot of flower damage. Also, maybe it's the variety? Some are more prone than others?
@twosistersflowerfarm2 жыл бұрын
We do use a spray specifically to target bugs (we spray more heavily while the flowers are in buds and still growing verses when they’re flowering). We spray at night to avoid hurting the pollinators. There’s a number of options often available at your local garden store. For dahlias, sometimes we’ll place buds in organza bags and allow them to open up. The bags sort of act as a barrier keeping the flower from being damaged. Hope this gives you some ideas 💛

Do you follow the same rules for U-pick? Or is this for harvesting to make bouquets to sell?
