I have to say, I don’t have kiddos. Not through choice just the way life worked out. But this video spoke to me as an adult. The whole having a plan or identifying something you want to accomplish for the day … I am having one of those “hopeless” moments right now and you’ve given me inspiration to make a plan. Funny how you come across exactly what you need in the moment, in a sea of KZbin videos. Thank you!

I like the idea of basket snacks for the day. Kids eat so much when they are home and bored. What a great way to minimize that. Wish I thought of that when my boys were kids. Enjoy your summer and speedy recovery!

Tiffany growing up the youngest of 5 & only girl I spent summer at home and with family. We didn’t have the means to travel but I have amazing memories. Not having the schedule & just being free to play with my friends & family get togethers gave me such amazing memories! I wouldn’t change a thing! I had the luxury of not being scheduled out all summer long & had the freedom to be a kid.

My kids are out of the house...My own childhood memories were unstructured playing outside til dark and one camping trip per year...we played with neighborhood kids all summer, as we had one car which my dad took to work. Once we hit high school, we all had to get summer jobs...My own kids, had a good balance of unstructured time/playing with friends...camping, swim lessons, camp, library visits, playdates...and one week every year with my extended family to a lake...good memories made with their cousins! Then summer jobs in high school...I realize that this, actually isn't 'typical', as I thought it was for kids...but that we were blessed, to have spent our summers this way.

So much more of what you share with us is very much appreciated. Thank you truly for this. Until the next one MY FRIEND...💛🌻---Veronica 🦋🫶

When I was growing up, we had a commercial fishing lake and my summers were working from 4 a.m. till 10 p.m. at the lake, especially the summer my mom spent all day at my dad's grave when he died. I was the oldest and 12 and my 2 sisters and I ran the lake all summer that year. But those were my summers and I learned a lot and miss those days actually. We did go some places here and there, trip to MN to fish at a lodge, trips to Indiana Beach, etc. My grandson this summer is trampoline jumping, swimming, two times each every week and they already went to a science center and a movie. There will be more trips here and there like that.

Thank you! You gave me a rethink. I have no kids but what you said about no bucket list & focus on routine got me to thinking. I get a lot done at work but why can’t I get a lot done or I should be honest why is my list never done. I have decided to focus on the routine & maybe I will be happier w/ my weekends. Yes, the list or more honestly the lists will always be there but they should not plow me under. Thank you!

Summers for us growing up were spent at the local plunge, swimming lessons, YMCA during the days. Trips to the library for the summer book club. Both parents worked and we did local baseball , spent a week at the beach in So California, (Newport). With my kids and grandkids, going to the beach, gardening, bbq and just hanging out. Looking forward to more summertime recipes and gardening. Thanks for the video

You’re exactly right . Summer is a season of memories , and not of spending tons of money . I know families that go on excursions 2-3 times a week ( costly ones) . Even if you’re not watching a budget , kids get used to it , over stimulated and expect more ! Memories are summer popsicles , making jam with your grandma , staying outside until you hear your mom yell out your name ……. It’s bath time lol ! I’m an only child my parents didn’t even know where I was most of the time ( usually at a candy store or sitting on the sidewalk with friends catching bugs 🐞🐜🪰and eating a popsicle lol ! 🍉🍒🍦🍭🍡 Now …..☕️☕️☕️

Tiffany! Right on with the schedule/routine! My kids did so much better staying on a regular routine and sleep schedule during the summer months and the sleep schedule in particular helps when it’s time to go back to school. During the hottest part of the day, if we weren’t out and about or had their friends over, they had a quiet time with a book after lunch, even when they were teens- it allowed a recharge for the rest of the day and also to really rehydrate and cool down from being in the sun most of the morning and early afternoon. We pretty much went with the flow during the summer after the morning meal and normal morning chores, nothing scheduled or planned unless the kids requested to do something outside the home or 1-2 camping trips for a week here or there. Some of the “spontaneous" thi gs I did when my husband was at work (and they were budgeted and planned by me but the kids were always surprised by) was a drive to an ice cream shop, a real picnic at a park, a trip to the city (we are very rural and live 160 miles from Colorado Springs) for an overnight hotel stay, hitting the mall, a big movie theater and restaurants and giving them spending $ too!

Hello Tiffany!! Such good ideas for a happy summer at home!!! My first 4 grandkids would come stay the summer with us. They are grown now. But we did these same things with them. Their parents were so busy working so the grandkids loved my house because they weren't always going somewhere. We took them on a weekend trip once in the summer but the rest if the time we were home. I have the best memories time spent with them. We have 5 more younger ones that were making memories with now. Time flies we have to make the best of every summer!!!😊 I hope yall have a wonderful summer!!!! God bless!!!!😊❤

I grew up the youngest of seven kids. And my mom worked during the day. I was outside with all the neighbor kids. I knew everyone in the neighborhood. And some kids lived off our street. But it was a lot safer back then. My daughter has six kids at home. And one of my granddaughters is pregnant and due at the end of July. And they are supposed to be moving. Where we used to live we belonged to the pool. And the four oldest kids used to stay with us and they went swimming a lot. My husband would take them. They used to eat us out of house and home. My oldest grandson just turned thirteen. And he comes and stays with us a lot. The first thing he does is open the pantry door. Then the refrigerator and freezer at the same time. Then he figures what he wants to eat first. And he can now eat a lot. He’s already taller than me. He hasn’t been here yet this summer. My husband and I have both been sick. I’m feeling better, but my husband still has a cough. And he’s going up to Ohio for a month and stay at my other daughter’s house for a month. They’re going for my great grandson’s birthday. And will come back when his sister has her baby. So I will be a great grandmother again. And I’m really not that old.

Love this video!!!! All great suggestions and summer is a vibe! 9 weeks are precious. Chores in morning and chill in afternoons with reading and low key stuff for me and fun in evenings! 😄so glad you are keeping structure to keep awareness of how much time flies and the hydration bottles are fantastic idea. May yall have a blast! I rented a classic car convertible as a bucket list fun putting for Father’s Day. Wanted to do an activity that could gather everyone and now that is done with great fun memories but from here on out this summer will be frugal and restful for me. That rental was pricey and worth it but now happy just to lay low for a bit and do the simple joys of life! Good meals sunshine and good family time and friendship fun!

Tiffany, the weight on your shoulders is enormous. Kids need time to think for themselves, be creative and not be on a leash and brought to places all the time. I remember babysitting this rich family’s kids one summer where the parents were off on a European trip. Long story short, Brand new appliances were delivered and guess what the kids played with outside in the backyard for many days….
