Thank you, Dominic! I should push that video idea in the pipeline closer to the front, people have been asking that same question (coming up with parts). In a nutshell, it comes down to adopting a melodic approach, like being a 2nd vocal layer that doesn't clash with the vocals.

Wow! what a great message! Learning to separate myself from the other EG in the band is something that takes work, but does improve the overall sound. You're point is so right, dropping ego and pride for the greater purpose of worshipping the Lord. And this line from your greeting should be the mission statement for all worship teams - to see musicians grow in their stewardship of their musical talent to serve our Lord and King, Jesus Christ!

I came to this realization after a bad service kicked off revival. Serve The Lord, sing the song to The Lord, play your instrument to The Lord, practice is great but The Holy Spirit really makes my playing shine.
