Glad I found this. My piercer told me none of this. Said to get saline spray and spray it 2x a day and not to let anyone suck on them for 3 weeks That’s it.
@BodyPiercingTattooing5 жыл бұрын
The spray can work as long as it's sterile saline spray with no additives. However, having oral contact after only 3 weeks is completely asking for infection. I'm glad you found it helpful and you deserve a piercer that takes the time to explain how to take care if your piercings.

I did my own nipple and I clean twice a day using unscented mild softsoap and warm water with a coffee cup (I use Listerine to sterilize my cup prior to use for 5-10min) . I don't touch it at all except to clean it. As it takes 6-12 months for it to heal from what multiple piercers have told me.

I got to them in titanium . Just because I have sensitive skin- when I wear cheap earrings or necklace my ears or neck get very itch and red.. I purchased the recovery after care kit from the shop but they didn't explain any aftercare whatsoever. It's just 2 bottles;One is a aftercare soap the other a saline spray. Does the saline spray replace the need for soaks?
@BodyPiercingTattooing4 жыл бұрын
You can do soaks with the saline spray but the most common method is to spray the saline on to the piercing. Let it stay in contact until the discharge softens. Then wipe it clean with a clean paper towel or sterile gauze sponge. Do that twice daily. The soap only needs to be used if the are is contaminated.

The discharge is a normal part of any healing piercing.it discharges waste and by products from new cell production while helping to seal off the piercing and fight off invading pathogens. Everyone seems to think that it is bad and needs to be removed. Just like the dried blood that can form around the holes of a new piercing. Using a saline solution, compress or soak and them rinsing under running water is all you need to do to remove discharge. Since you are not rotating or moving the jewelry, the discharge is not going to damage or cause issues.

I'm sorry to hear that you have been having this issue for so long. It should have been well healed by now. It's interesting that you have never heard of saline soaks before. This video is a little outdated. You can mix it yourself but a better option is a sterile saline spray like neilmed wound wash spray. Also I no longer suggest soap unless the area has been contaminated. Have you had your doctor look at the bump? The reason I ask is it could require medical attention, especially if it is an abscess or cyst.

It's not uncommon for a piercing to start and stop discharging during the healing process. The pain me concerned though. If this is within the first week, discomfort is normal, especially tenderness to the touch. I'd it is further along, I really suggest seeing your piercer.

@@mckaylacrance9092 I took them out because I had gotten pregnant and during my pregnancy my breast were extremely tender and swollen. One night I took them out with the intention to put them back in in the morning. However, they closed instantly. Good to hear. I wouldn't worry if there isn't any discharge. Nipples tend to discharge off and on throughout the healing and not uncommon for period where there is no noticeable discharge.

I've had mine done today, and I'm very happy with them, now I know the healing process takes quite a while, I do have a little question! My hobby is cosplay/costuming, and I do alot of events as disney princesses, and underneath alot of my dresses I wear a corset, now this corset will always be on its tightest to recreate the Disney waistelines. My first real event is next month around the 24th of February. Do you advice to ditch the corset completely or leave it less tight than normal? I don't mind looking for a different option since I want to avoid every chance of infection or rejection, but if there's no harm in using the corset less tight than normal that would certainly have my preference. Thank you in advance! This video already helped me with ways to keep it clean since my piercer didn't really inform me about that.

It really depends on how much pressure there is against the piercings. I would suggest trying it on, if there is any discomfort, starting looking for alternatives.

@BodyPiercingTattooing3 жыл бұрын
As long as the piercings are healthy when you remove the jewelry, there really isn't anything that you need to do. If they were still healing, I would continue aftercare and monitoring them but if the piercing is healed nothing really needs to be done.

I had mine pierced 3 months ago. One is perfect and healing well, the other I think the bar is just a little too small which is causing indents. Currently unable to get to my piercer, would it be safe to switch to a longer bar myself at this point? I've ordered some internally threaded barbells, if I do attempt to switch one myself would I be better off ordering an insertion pin/taper to make the process easier? If so, what type would be best? Your videos are very informative and a huge help! Thanks.
@BodyPiercingTattooing3 жыл бұрын
It would be best to have a threaded guide pin. That way you can thread it onto the current jewelry, push the jewelry out with the guide pin in the piercing thread the new jewelry on and push it into the piercing. This method ensures that the piercing has a placeholder and isn't empty. Happy to hear that you are finding the videos helpful and thank you for watching.

Hey! Two things !! I personally got mine done about 2 days ago, the piercer was good but some tips weren't great, like wash 2/3 times a day but just spray it with saline solution, twist it a little, etc..other help tips were right though , healing being 6months to at worse 2 years. No swimming, unscented and avoid body wash, ya know. But I'm glad I found you! I knew a few things on that to do and not too but this video is very educational! Thank you. My piercer told me to use bactine to clean my piercings is that okay ?
@BodyPiercingTattooing4 жыл бұрын
Your piercer has outdated information. Bactine is far too harsh to heal a piercing with. In fact, this is an older video and I no longer even suggest using soap unless the piercing has been contaminated. All you really need to use is sterile saline solution like NeilMed Wound Wash or Piercing Aftercare Spray.

What has been the feedback for comfortable clothing after getting the nipples pierced? I am asking as a female, but I'm sure both men and women would appreciate your insight to this question. I've been looking into getting nipple piercings for more than 5 years now and I haven't found a clear answer about the clothing. Cotton-based clothes are usually recommended. I've heard sports bras being recommended and demonized for putting too much pressure on the piercings. In your experience, what is generally the best clothes to wear overall to help the piercings heal? Looser or tighter? Tshirts or bras? So many sincere thanks for your studios advice and help! You are all so great! Thank you for posting videos and replying to comments!
@BodyPiercingTattooing Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply. Usually a soft breathable fabric is most comfortable. With bras it really depends, a majority of my clients have said sports bras or a tight tank top was best. However, everyone is shaped differently and it isn't a bad idea to experiment and find what feel and works best for you.

@@BodyPiercingTattooing thank you so much and I have another question I'm planning on getting my nipples pierced and I was talking to my cousin about it and she said she got hers done she didn't have any problems and about a year later she ended up with a bad fever so she went to the doctor and they told her that her body was rejecting the piercings she didn't have any pain discomfort or any sign of rejection in the area how is that possible? She did say the fever went away after she took the piercings out tho
@BodyPiercingTattooing4 жыл бұрын
My guess is that the doctor is completely uneducated on piercing. They just see them as a foreign object and decided it would the cause. If she was having a reaction to the jewelry or her body was rejecting the jewelry, not only would the fever shown up much earlier but there would have been signs of issues at the site if the piercings. My guess is the fever was completely unrelated and the doctor just doesn't like piercings or other forms of body modifications. If there was any medical connection they would be telling people to take their ear piercings out every time they got a fever.

I wouldn't suggest any petroleum products 9n a piercing. If you notice that the area is drying out, make sure you are rinsing the area off after doing soaks and try reducing the amount of salt that you are adding. I would suggest also switching to satin or proven and cut back to cleaning once daily.

Question 1: When I get them done how long should I wait till I workout?? Question 2: Should I continue to wear bras the first couple days to weeks or go braless?
@BodyPiercingTattooing4 жыл бұрын
I suggest wearing a bra with even support for the first two weeks to reduce movement. Exercise when it feels comfortable. Listen to your body if it hurts to do something, don't do it and move on to something that doesn't. The sensitivity to movement will usually fade after two weeks.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I no longer suggest soap unless the area has been contaminated. As far as the diet change did they tell you why? It sounds like eastern medicine beliefs. They claim that shellfish because they are bottom feeders, are full of impurities that will lead to infection. The truth is shellfish are a great source of low fat protein and has been know to reduce scarring. The soy thing is a belief that fermented soy will cause dark scabs and scarring. Completely untrue. www.shape.com.sg/food/truth-behind-avoiding-seafood-soy-sauce-after-surgery/ I'm unsure why these myths continue to be spread by professionals that don't research what they are suggesting. I found that page in less than ten seconds.

Okay its probably a stupid question but how long do you need to keep them in?
@BodyPiercingTattooing5 жыл бұрын
As my father always said, "The only stupid question is one you don't ask." It is best to leave the original jewelry in until the piercing or piercings are healed. After healing the jewelry needs to stay in pretty much at all times for the first few years. However, I have had clients that have had the piercing for years, took it out for a few hours and had issues putting the jewelry back in. It is always best if you like the piercing to leave some jewelry in it.
