I really learned something helpful in this video. The misalignment of the hing and how to fix was really good.

You are the only seriously capable carpenter I have found on KZbin today of countering a dozen other crappy 'professionals' spreading lots of simple erratic methods and inconscient of their fails popping up all over. I had almost given up when I found You. Very glad to follow Your series without getting disturbed by all errors displayed by those other fakes and the superlative comments from their adoring hapless fanbase.

Matt, after a couple of viewing of this specific video, I was successful in using less expensive hinges to finish a wedding box for cards. I was really frustrated with attempts to locate reasonably priced stop hinges online; they are out there but $$$ pricy. And fit was so good with the first pilot holes (only from your guidance, not from my skill) my box was about 10x16x5" I'll let you figure the metric conversion. Thanks for your extremely clear instructions in this video, still helping a couple of years down the road.

The video on cleaning up hinges made me go buy so cheap ones from my local. They needed a lot of work. Now sitting in a box waiting for a project like this.

Piano hinge installations; lucky me, I used scotch magic tape, centered the length at the middle of the two edges, screwed two screws on either side of hinge drilled, screwed and it worked

Just curious as to why you didn't use a Self-centering drill bit to drill the hinge holes???

I've finally found the video which shows how to correct hinge installation issues. The most common problem I've had when installing butt hinges on boxes is that after the hinge mortises have been carved out, the lid may have slight misalignment when closed. You show how to find the offending screw and how to fix the problem. Videos that only show a perfect installation are not quite as helpful as your video. Thanks, and I plan to watch the rest of your hinge videos, as I'm sure I will take away a pearl of knowledge!

I see , I am not the only person having hinge troubles. My lids won't close or stay closed. Obviously I'm doing something wrong or not doing it right. I'm that lost. Lol.

Really loving this series, Matt. I’m slowly working my way through the videos and then will eventually buy the pack to make it. Also, just curious what you think about squeezing the leaves together in a vice so there’s no gap and I’ve also seen a self-centring drill bit that I’ve seen some cabinet makers use on their hinges. Might be worth a try. What do you think? Thanks.

Matt, the Brusso hinges are lovely, but quite on the pricey side. Having said that, the cheap hinges are just that, cheap. Is there anyone manufacturing middle of the road hinges for a middle of the road price that you know of, worldwide or in the US?
@Roct38743 жыл бұрын
Horton brasses are usually cheaper than Brusso but are both high-end USA-made. I've used both and am happy with both plus Horton has a better selection of colors.
