Learn how to hip carry in an SSC! Babywearing tutorial video. Sped up and captioned for quick viewing!
First, unclip and loosen the straps. Position baby how you would normally carry them on the hip. This is usually slightly to the side and not truly on the hip. Make a seat for baby and put baby in. Supporting baby with your other hand, pull one strap over your shoulder, down your back, and then across. Clip in place. Pull the other strap under your arm and across your back. Clip in place. Lift baby up as you tighten each strap, then settle baby in to the panel (not sitting on the waist band).
Your child is old enough for a hip carry when they are at an age and size where you are comfortably holding them on your hip without a carrier--sometime around 6 months is common.
Make sure your carrier properly fits your baby. They should be able to bend their knees and have their leg supported. They should be able to sit comfortably in the panel height.
Demonstration is with a 5'2"/3" woman using a demo doll in a Toddler size Lenny Lamb brand LennyGo carrier.
