I'm very impressed with your description of how to drink from a tea bowl at the Japanese tea ceremony. It's a really complicated procedure and your advice is very close to completely correct; the good news is that your advice is close enough to perfect that someone encountering a Japanese tea bowl for the first time -- and without extensive training -- would look very knowledgeable and polite to a Japanese hostess or her Japanese guests. By the way, I lived in Japan and studied the tea ceremony for seven years. As for burning your hands on the tea bowl, my sensei/teacher would say that you just had to buck up and PRETEND that it wasn't painful. This pretending that everything is okay is an important cultural element -- and a sign of good manners and good breeding -- for Japanese people in almost everything in daily life. 😮

the Japanese was very interesting. I hope you continue to show international etiquette 🙏🏻, they are really educational for those of us who enjoy traveling, it is incredibly useful 😊 I remember when I went to Morocco, the coffee is very different as well as the way it is served and drunk, fortunately our server taught us how we should do it. Now thanks to you i know the japanese way of drinking at the tea ceremony. ❤

Hello Jamila! As always, I enjoy watching your videos. I recently checked your book “Etiquette the least you need to know” in your website but I must say that I was disappointed at the fact that I would have to pay an additional $30 for international shipping making my total cost of $50 for a book. I hope that in the future you would be able to reduce the price for the internationally shipping so that I could enjoy reading your book!

Hi Jamila, Iˋm never sure how to sit correctly at the dinner table. Am I allowed to lean back? Where should I but my arms during the conversation when Iˋm not eating? I donˋt wan to look tense. Can you make a short video about this? I would be very thankful.

It wasn't mentioned, but are the elbows always close to the body drinking hot and cold beverages?
@TheEmaile6 ай бұрын
I believe it is, not only because it looks more proper, but also because having your elbows splayed out to the sides can lead to someone accidentally bumping your arm or your arm bumping something, causing your drink to spill.

I have a question if you pour tea in cup and cream comes up (in case of fresh un skimmed milk) what should we do? What are etiquette for that should I mix it in tea with spoon or take that out.?
@envy20696 ай бұрын
There are actual tea spoons! Made for tea! The spoon part is small and not big like a regular one. You lightly stir it but make sure you don’t scrap the bottom or walls of the cup.
@syeddanimra60946 ай бұрын
@@envy2069 so u mean that we should mix that cream?
@envy20696 ай бұрын
@@syeddanimra6094 yeah? I don’t see why it would be bad manners to mix the tea how you want it. If the utensil is given to you for that purpose, why not use itn

I would love a video about how to use our facial expressions to show emotions while interacting with people elegantly without looking awkward or messy or over dramatic or over expressive, I am struggling with my facial expressions, I over use them and I can’t control them, I open my mouth widely or gasp loudly or lift my eyebrows too high and I lower my head and cover my mouth in a weird way when I laugh shyly and that ruins everything I look so awkward and weird when I show that I am shy or happy or nervous or surprised or angry or upset or when I laugh or smile or argue … I don’t know how to control my face and how to interact softly and elegantly and calmly and femininely with my facial features … 🥹🤎 I wish you could help me ! Than you in advance, I hope you teach me how to control my facial expressions better on every situation
