Great video! The public land in PA is so diverse, from marsh , to swamp, to hills and deep woods to hard wood mountains and hemlocks, to river and creek bottoms. Oh and I forgot farm land as well. We always target the thickest, nastiest places .. it usually pays off.. keep the great videos coming!! Come to PA, true challenge!

Haha. If you think PA is a challenge, come to southeast Tennessee and try to pattern a big old mountain buck.

Pa hunting isnt hard most places you can determine where bucks are feeding and bedding ny is the same way

Let me say killing old mature bucks is never easy but certain habitats make it easier when the deer are able to be patterned when you know where the main food source is when your targeting them and knowing where there bedding because they can be patterned i cant speak for everywhere as ive only hunted ny nj and pa but by far south jersey pinelands is the hardest hunting ive ever experienced

I am new to hunting, I've always been exclusive fishing. This was my second season hunting turkey (ain't kilt one yet, but I was very close on numerous occasions). One of the reasons is that I've always been afraid of public land. Well, what I've witnessed in the field the last two years, combined with what I've learned from ya'll has completely changed my thinking. It's on now! Thank you for the vids, and helping me learn what I am doing. Keep up the great work guys!

One good topic could be why the bucks are using the different cover types. Like how they use certain areas when they're antlers are growing/ in velvet vs when they're hard horned. Think that might open some eyes. Also at 04:00 when your kneeling in that bed and the sun was hitting your back I imagined you were a buck and probably you would have decided to move to another bed when that sun started to hit you. Also something else to think about. I think Dan made a video about that before Good video team! 👊👊

Incredible info again guys, thank you sooo much. I hunt flatland marsh. I know you've encountered red twig dogwood, my area has a couple square miles of it. Extremely difficult when all the big deer stay out there until after shooting hours.

Doesn’t look like there is much water in those marshes, hard to see from the video but just looks like open grassland. Either way, the bucks sure do love it!
@TheHuntingPublic
@TheHuntingPublic 6 жыл бұрын
This has been a very dry year for that area. Believe it or not, duck hunters actually hunt these spots more than deer hunters. But you are right, lots of open grassland as well.

Hey guys, FYI: your subscribe button was missing from the end screen. I'm a little confused when you mentioned 'observation stands'. Do you mean that you will use those stands to try and observe mature bucks out in the marsh, and once located you will climb down and stalk them from the ground? Thanks for the intel.
@TheHuntingPublic
@TheHuntingPublic 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! In most cases we sit observation then move in the next day or next available opportunity. Sometimes you could stalk them if you spot the buck early enough in the hunt.

Went in yesterday to where I thought they was bedded and jumped a huge buck found 2 spots to slip in and hang my xop within 70 yards of his bed. In the summer when it's 90° how close to dark is it before thermals start dropping? That's my only concern.

@@TheHuntingPublic I really enjoy watching y'all's videos. The deer are bedded in the bottoms and I'm worried no matter where I set up my thermals are going to drop to them before I even get to see them just don't know what to do.

Seeing that someone else already has a stand setup there, do you guys still go in and try to hunt it and risk blowing up their hunt hoping they're not there that particular day? I run into that a lot hunting public here in michigan. Dont wanna crowd someone in hopes that they'll have the same courtesy. Just wondering what ya'll do in that situation
@TheHuntingPublic
@TheHuntingPublic 6 жыл бұрын
39jimmyjam If someone is parked there before us then we move or try to find out where their hunting and avoid the area. If nobody is there that day, we’ll go past the stand
