I need your help lol. I bought an old old huge stamp collection and whoever started it knew what they were doing because she has ledgers and news paper articles from 1963 about stamps and coin collecting, which I didn't get the chance to buy coin correction cause it was all gone except for some empty books and some old silver and a few great coins. But the stamp collection is so much and she must have mailed somewhere every month for years and years cause she has each envelope that she written on and described which stamps are in each envelope, and there's soooooo many. I'm so confused lol. Appreciate your videos.

Thanks for the informed video. I have a George Washington two cent stamps but none of them look like yours for example the word "cents" stands alone in a straight line while yours have two words "two cents" in a curved line. I'm confused - I'm new to this.

My dad passed away and he left me his stamp collection. I figured it was a few stamp books. He had thousands of stamps. He has hundreds of these George Washington stamps in sleeves and with catalog numbers and also has stamps from every country. Looks like a lot of his stamps are from the 1800’s and it seems to me thousands from every country. Also probably every first day issue USA stamps. He has a lot priced from .10 cents upwards of $100’s. So crazy. I don’t even know where to start. He lived in Missouri and I shipped them back. I was not able to ship the catalogs he had. Those are still at his home and plan to ship those to myself eventually. This is becoming a very interesting hobby of mine. Where can I start online ??

I started collecting at 8 years old with a stamp album that had stamp illustrations printed in it to guide me along. Later I discovered the Scott Stamp Catalog in the school library and learned from it. There was no internet back then, but by the time computers came along I was a seasoned collector and had already learned most of what I needed to know. I learned from doing.

Yes! I have found that understand the why behind stamp characteristics helps me better understand and identify them. I don’t recall why the caps on these but my guess is either a flaw in the way the printing plates were made or this was intentionally done in order to distinguish a different printing company or process. Thoughts?
