If you need help identifying a Koya Niiyama collab, this video should give you the best information for that.
Eric Koyanagi and Jon Niiyama collaborated for a few years, between 2017-2019, producing arguably the best lures ever made.
Early models of the collabs were never signed or dated, they were part of the original batch and arguably the most valuable as well.
In 2018, Eric and Jon started signing the bases of the insert and then later dating them as well. If you see any signature or date on any other part of the lure besides the base of the insert, that is a big red flag.
Eric always polished the base of his lures, except for his 10” and smaller lures. If you find any 12” lures or larger with a sanded base rather than being polished, then they might not be the real genuine thing. Eric however has started sanding all of his larger lures now on the bases, but when the collabs were being made, none of the larger lures had sanded bases.
