How To Identify Factory Sealed vs. Resealed Nintendo Games

So back in the day.. I used to work at KB Toys.. I remember when the original plastic wrap would wear out or tear.. we had a heating machine with plastic wrap in the back and just re-wrapped the goods. Games were brand new but just not originally sealed anymore because of wear. We would just re-wrap and even stick plastic tabs back on.. (we sure didn’t think these games would be considered major collectibles). Sure missed out on that one!

European version had no H-seam ! Some had es red opening band with Nintendo write on it. But no H-seam in Europe. So this is just true for US/NTSC Versions.

There's a Sealed Pokemon Gold up to $400 at the moment , Thanks for saving me around $800-$1k which I think it'll go up to .. The Seal is loose on the corner & doesn't have an H seal .. & the box is slightly dented LOL ..

I had heard that because blue and red came out first then yellow that the earlier yellows had the horizontal h seam and therefore were more sought after.

mason Unfortunately not. When I contacted the buyer, he threw out a ton of excuses to how he already used the money and that it would take a few months before he could get the money back to me. I didn't expect anything less from a con artist who passes off a reseal as a factory seal and sells it for full price. But oh well...that's life sometimes

The H seam is used by companies other than Nintendo for their factory seals. I’ve noticed that even original factory sealed Apple iPhones have that H seam and those are really fetching big dollars.

That pokemon looks like a carefully constructed version of the H-Seam. Looks to loose and the cardboard near the flaps looks opened before.

if you buy the machine used to seal games you can real seal any game and it will look legit no matter who looks at it. You just need like 50k or 100k whatever the machines they used cost lol. you can smaller ones but it wont be the same as the big factor ones nintendo used

Cool video thanks for the info. Just out of curiosity is this H seam confirmed? Is it not possible that some factories or different places sealed them differently? Or are there ever just random ones that maybe went through the machine wrong and look a bit less clean and straight?

Always need to message sellers verifying if it is factory sealed and if there are any tears or cracks (for ps1 games)

Having a H Seam does not mean anything. Once resealers find that is something people look for, then they just do their own H Seam. Heck even the Chinese are making fake Nintendo tearstrips nowadays. Creating a certain type of seam is nothing.

I need help, i just got a gameboy color game call monster ranger explorer from this place that does reseal their games. However, this one looks different from the rest of their games. The box has no damage to it. No marks were you open it to get inside and is not crushed at the top like the rest of their games. There is no H seam but it is sealed along the outside of the box. Not sure if its resealed or factory sealed. Anyone know?

I have Serious Sam Advance (PAL) sealed but seal looks like the one on pokemon blue. My friend started working for Croteam who are developers of Serious Sam so they gave him 2 of these sealed copies as a gift (they had 5-10 of these Serious Sam Advance sealed games,probably leftovers from 10 years ago) What do you think? I mean they are developers so why would they reseal games. These games where probably sent to them from factory for testing or giving away or something similar

Hey man, not sure if you’re still active here but hopefully you’ll see this and can help me out. I’m looking to add a sealed copy of Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories on GBA to my collection. There are about 4-5 “sealed” copies on eBay right now, but I’m not indicating an H-seam on any of them. Does this mean they’re all phony, or is the H-seam a Pokémon only thing? Thanks in advance.

Kneeeb red Nintendo strip is for EU version. In US version, they don't have it.
