Informative video and I totally agree that we should respect imperfections and that is the beauty of handmade stuff. I make handmade soaps and love the different designs that come out of each batch and that makes them unique. Is there a way to learn this art from the any of the authentic artisans of kalahasti? If yes please let me know....
@MyGod_IsAwesome Жыл бұрын
You did not mention digital printing in fabric. However some of my dupattas are digital but very pretty. Some fusion is also needed for old art to be preserved and appealing for future generations. However I do buy authentic Kalamkari and do my own artwork. One way authentic can be known is by the smell it smells of cow ghee as it is treated with them.

A lot of kalamkari artisans have moved to synthetic colors. That doesn’t make it fake. It’s only to ensure that colors are brighter and don’t bleed
@arpitharai4 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. But that takes away the fabric from their original form. By using these synthetic colours the environment is getting effected. The price of the cloth goes down and that takes the value of the art down as well. That is the reason we must stick to the vegetable dyes and save the art in its original form.

There is one more store in park lane near Paradise Secunderabad. I don't remember the name. It's a small store. you may find it while walking through the lane. Try these places :-)

Arpitha Rai I did get in touch with Mr. Chandra for Kalamkari saree in Crepe fabric but unfortunately he works with cotton & tussar only. So he agreed to make saree in crepe if I courier him the fabric but due to corona just avoiding to go to fabric store. After things get in order I will get my order done by Mr. Chandra. I am glad to know you are already thinking of making video on Uppada because of so many middle men involve by the time it reaches the store Uppada tend to become quite expensive. If you make video it will be beneficial for the weaver & to customer like me. Pls make video on Ponduru khadi too it one of the best textile of India & it deserve to be popular like any other textile. You can do all these thing after pandemic for sure.

Today only I'm thinking how we know difference between fake kalamkari so from your vedio I cleared my doubt and one thing pls do a vedio how to develop our culture and handloom artists like any government schems r there r not .....
@arpitharai5 жыл бұрын
I am so happy that you found my video 😃 These govt schemes are difficult to get through. There are many steps to follow. Many people to meet. If you want to help the artisans, you can do it directly by reaching out to them like how I do. buying from them directly without any mediators is also a great help for them. Promote the craft by spreading the knowledge to others. I am doing my part to help the artisans and my viewers through these videos. you can even share this video. so many of your friends can get the awareness. I even created a documentary on handmade Kalamkari process and the artisan by going to Srikalahasthi (with my personal interest to help them) you can watch it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2fbhamPiaZ-g8k there is his contact detail in the description of the video if you want to reach out to him 😊
