Thank you for this video. I was just sobbing over my homework and feeling like such an idiot. In class I understand, but then with the homework I'm lost. I watched about 10 different videos, before coming to yours, that all said the same basic thing and did not specify how to know what a strong base or acid was. I was feeling so frustrated and about to give up, then I found your video. Thank you SO SO much. I really appreciate it. This is my 3rd time taking chemistry, so I really can't fail this time. I will check out your other videos.

I found the video to be lifesaving, too! I didn't fully grasp it, but I feel like I can rewatch it and build and understanding off it. My Professor hasn't talked about anything mentioned yet. We're largely expected to read from the book and just know. Unfortunately, the chapter gives two paragraphs to this before moving on and the few specific examples it gives doesn't cover the topic as a whole ;^; I greatly appreciate videos like these. I respect I'm just paying for the right to prove I know something, but I do require a bit of being taught xD

Yess girl the I was in the same situation as well watched a bunch of vids and still no answer but when I clicked on this video it was the key to all my problems(telling the difference between electrolytes and non electrolytes)

I understand the rules that make things strong and weak. But is the only way to get it right on a test, memorizing all the strong and weak acids/bases? Or is there a way to solve it?
@DailySimplicity6 жыл бұрын
you must remember all the strong and week acids, but with the two ways of remembering he said its the best you'll get as most teachers/profs, such as mine, just tell you, memorize these 15 with no ways to help doing so.

Since a substance is insoluble, it doesn´t give any ions, so it should be non electolyte , or am i wrong ? :(

How do you determine if a compound is an acid or base?
@noonespecial47756 жыл бұрын
Acids give hydrogens and bases accept hydrogen. Acids start with H typically and Bases end in OH. remember H+OH->HOH=H2O :p

Okay cool but how do we determine what's an acid or a base. You keep repeating that something is/is not an acid/base but how are we supposed to know?

this is wrong...insoluble ionic compounds will be considered non electrolytes. they dont dissociate into ions. weakly soluble ionic compounds may be considered weak electrolytes
