Amazing! Do some research into common hazardous lookalikes in your area, the information in this video is true of the UK and most of Europe but I am unsure about the edibility of fungi in your part of the world. I hope you’re having a great day and Thankyou for watching 😁

I found about 2kg of these while walking on Monday. The earthy flavour of them is unlike anything you can buy at the super market.

That’s a good haul! My spots aren’t producing as well as usual at the moment. Hoping for a good few flushes before winter 🤞 Where in the country are you?

Another way to learn is use youtube using the 2 or 3 witness technuique. If all the proffesional channels are saying the same thing you can be sure that is what it is and you sir are very proffesional.

@@Fieldstudy_ I actually went out for a walk through some woods today. The first time I felt confident enough in my ID to pick some mushrooms and have them in a stir fry! Managed to bag some amethyst deceiver, bay bolete and common puffballs. (And a pocket full of sweet chestnut 😉) buzzing!

Great video! I've learned a lot by watching this a few times now! Question on harvesting for best flavor (or ripeness?) - should I wait for the veil to have separated? Or are they better when that veil is still attached to the cap?
@Fieldstudy_
@Fieldstudy_ 8 ай бұрын
Glad to hear it! So I think field mushrooms are delicious at every stage of growth, but each can have it’s different uses. Button mushrooms for their texture then fully open specimens in dishes where you want to impart maximum mushroomyness. I also find that older specimens that are maybe past their best (providing they don’t have too many maggot holes) are great for dehydrating and making a rich mushroom powder. The perfect background flavour to build winter soups on. Thanks for the question and I wish you the best of luck, the field mushrooms are just starting to flush again here on the Island. Hoping to get a nice full basket tomorrow morning 😀

How about size, what the inside of the stem looks like. I've not found so many on my land here in western Montana as I have this spring. There's something to be said for not having sprayed any chemical for nigh 20 years (since I've owned the place) . I noticed also that many of them, and they seem to be coming up in large rings, have bites taken out of them and my boy cat loves to eat them and others! This is what caused me to research them. I've had them for dinner every night!

Hello! So this video is useful for differentiating between Agaricus campestris and potentially hazardous lookalikes in the UK and Northern Europe. I have no expertise when discussing the fungi of North America so I would really consult someone with more localised knowledge. Sounds like you’re doing a great job at making your property a fantastic place for mycorrhizal fungi to live though, keep up the good work!

Found some good looking mushrooms smell mushrooms but hav yellow staining any recomendations
@Fieldstudy_
@Fieldstudy_ 11 ай бұрын
Hello! As I said in the video if the mushrooms you have found pass all of the initial identification tests but are staining yellow then they are potentially toxic so do not eat them. They could be Agaricus Xanthodermis or ‘the yellow stainer’ which could lead to gastric upset or poisoning. Keep on looking though! Field mushrooms are very common and popping up all over the place right now 😀 best of luck

1: Spore print/tissue sample to agar in a VERY STERILE ENVIROMENT with STERILE MATERIALS! 2: Agar transfer to liquid culture 3: Liquid culture to substrate (spawn) 4: Add spawn to more substrate 5: Let it inoculate in a dark room 6: once colonized fully (all mycelium, 100% white) allow to fruit with humidity and ZERO CONTAMINATION! 100% STERILE! 7: harvest gently with knife for second flush
