How to identify the PRIMARY and SECONDARY in a TRANSFORMER easily!! Before starting with the video remember that we are going to work with the mains voltage in this case for Spain 220/230v and it is quite dangerous, it is recommended to be very careful with electricity, for the first technique that we are going to use is with the digital multimeter we are going to put on an electrical resistance scale and we will see what result the digital multimeter gives us, normally the highest reading will be the primary of the transformer and the lowest reading will be the secondary of the transformer, for the second way it is with the homemade continuity tester of LED that I am going to leave a card at the end of the video, there we see that when we are measuring in the secondary of the transformer the intensity of the LED diode is higher that is, the LED is seen at its maximum intensity, but on the contrary when we are measuring In the primary, the most normal thing is that since we have a very high electrical resistance, we practically see almost no intensity in the LED diode. This is normal since the coil of a transformer acts as if it were an electrical resistance and the third way that I am going to teach is with the tool that we made on the channel to detect short circuits that I also leave you a card at the end of the video, there if we put it in the primary the 230v incandescent bulb will not turn on but on the contrary if we put it in the secondary it will turn on at its maximum intensity, which indicates that we fear a short circuit there since most of the current will be consumed by the bulb and we cannot connect the power directly there since it can cause an explosion or directly trip the circuit breaker or differential in the home.
