In a lot of projects, you should insert hydrostatic pressure into your problem but you don't know how to do this. Some of them are in a long container or at sea/coastal problems.

I am wondering that we should define hydrostatic pressure formula as udf file for such a powerful CFD software. isnt there any way to achieve hydrostatic pressure from fluent without using udf file? thanks for your tutorial video and your fluent English accent.

yes..u can define operating density as zero and fluent will calculate the hydrostatic pressure hence buoyancy

Set your operating density 0 in operating conditions and make your reference density equals to your fluid.

Hello sir, may I know why is it 145000-10000*y ? what does the 10000 represent? is it suppose to be the density of the water?

I am trying to simulate the upward wicking in the porous media. I have defined a capillary forces at interface that pulls interface in upward direction against gravity but I am not able to include the hydrostatic or gravitational forces that balances the capillary forces. Can you suggest something about it??

Also, in UDF that you showed, how did you select the value of absolute pressure value to be 145000?

At the beginning of the video, I set the height of the domain as 14.5 m. Hence the pressure of the lower place is density*gravity*height = 145000

In which section you can't include hydrostatic pressure? At first iteration, second iteration and above, or whole project.

@@messy8852 Thanks for the reply. I was able to figure out the problem. Since I am using vof model, hydrostatic pressure can be included simply by specifying the operating density.
