How to Import 3D Model into Cinema4D WITH MATERIALS! Cinema 4D Tutorial

I bought this 3D model off cgtrader. When you import the model file into C4D, there are a couple extra steps you have to take in order to get the model looking like it should.

Hello, great video and thanks for the tutorial video. I created some models with Adobe dimension, and I used Photoshop to create the design on the models, but after watching your video, I found out my Cinema 4d does not have the product asset inspector, so I tried material manager but I just placed the design from Photoshop on the model in d wrong direction, please do you have a solution for that? hey I got a quick question: What Format was the Astronaut file? FBX? maybe OBJ?

it was a C4D file. If you're using the same model, then it should come with a C4D file option you can download. If you're using OBJ then check to see if the seller also provides an MTL file. MTL files are the texture files for OBJs

And you're sure the model you're using is a .c4d file? If you're using other file types, such as .obj, then you'll have to go about it a different way

You have the same model from CGTrader? I posted a link in a different comment in case you need it to compare. If so, the seller provides the c4d file which is the file type I use. It won’t work for OBJ. For that, you’ll have to manually create each material and add the appropriate textures to each one. Hit me on Instagram if you need more help. @mc_mcpherson

On the right hand side, above the scene assets, you’ll see a button called “file”. Click that and then click merge objects. You can import whatever you want that way.
