If you look at them compared with the maps from models provided by video copilot you can normally get a pretty good idea of what is what.

HELP PLEASE! I got the very same model as you.. But the problem is: the model is fliped downwards so I can not rotate it onto my scene. When I position it perfectly using cinema 4d, coming back to AE its losses its smoothness it has only straight line not round curves.. HELP PLEASE!

i click on ok but the model is not importing into the scene
@Outpost5112 жыл бұрын
Does it display "loading model" at the top left of the Element 3D window? If so the OBJ could be quite large but should load in a while. Do any materials show up on the right hand and side? If so you could try and drag a material onto it to force the model to appear. Lastly check your export settings from MAX are the same as the linked image in the description above.

MajorInkPeoples Nvidia GTX 580 and 12gb of DDR 3 Ram. Sorry for the late response.
@Outpost5111 жыл бұрын
How large is the OBJ file, larger files require a longer time for Element 3D to show? Also what graphics card and RAM does your machine have, as always with 3D software the more RAM and faster the graphics card the better when it comes to using 3D applications.

@Outpost5110 жыл бұрын
Can you rotate the model in the viewer (click and hold left mouse button on preview and rotate)? If not you can post a question on the video copilot support forums www.videocopilot.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=42&sid=c36cc298392f7fe813296a106f36d40b or email support@videocopilot.com

Dude, thanks for the tuto! Got this simple problem. Brought just simple obj sphere with clear topology from blender to E3D. Problem is that E3D gives that one extra line to each polygon. E3d surface options wont let me remove that one cross line.. Any solutions:D Cheers!

Not sure, but I heard that you will be able to add shadows natively in Element's 2.0 update which will be arriving soon.

can anyone help me and tell me where i can get models ?
@Outpost5111 жыл бұрын
Hi, My favourite website for free models is tf3dm.com/, as long as you download the obj file format you will be fine.
@companyoflosers10 жыл бұрын
you never told us how to enable multiple textures to be added at the same time for one model. when i import a model it only allows one texture but your lambo model has many. how did you get it to let that happen?
@Outpost5110 жыл бұрын
It all depends on how the model was originally created in 3ds Max. Usually each component of the model has it's own texture (like the lambo model) so when you import it as an OBJ in Element you will have individual textures slots available. However some max models only have one texture that the creator then wraps around the model. Basically it's pot luck when you download from a model site but in my experience this is the exception rather than the rule.

"Now to apply a texture... click on the one you wanna do..." What the hell? How helpful is that? Not! You need to be far more descriptive if you want to give people a helpful tutorial. I was totally lost for most of this because you don't explain what you're doing, you just do it assuming we understand where everything is.

When I go to import the textures for any objects other than the defaults, it appears as a white solid, but it recognizes the resolution of the file. Any ideas on a fix?

7 years later i still have the same problem x) It's importing only the model, but not the texture, and i see it completly white. Maybe you found a solution after all this time
