Make sure to only use a maximum of 300 pixels wide, otherwise you may run into some issues. The current program does not have a progress bar, so importing images may look stagnant but they should complete within a couple of minutes. Apologies for the slow speed of the program, it can widely vary from computer to computer, but it usually takes 20 minutes for a 300 x 300 image to export. Update: Im currently quite busy but Im hoping that the new picture importer update will launch some time this year. This update will: 1. Have instantaneous load times 2. Have the ability to use custom resolutions 3. Possibly includes compression 4. Faster printing times in Dreams Thank you all for being so patient! I really appreciate all the help and support as well, it really means a lot to me!

That’s how the internet worked for most people back in the days of dialup internet, sending data as audio over phone lines - the modem (modulator/demodulator) would create a rapid series of tones that would be reconstructed as data by another modem on the other end.

Hey thanks for the cameo in this video! 😅 I'm finally getting around to trying this out and had a question for you 🤔 When I try to install thumpy (or yg.thunpy), I get errors that seem related to failing to build pillow. Any tips on getting past thisn part? Thonny says the other two packages installed okay. I'm a fascinated python noob and appreciate getting as far as I did though haha. ✌🏽

Oh thanks so much for trying it out! Sorry about the whole confusion about this, the only extensions youll need are called pydub, numpy and pillow. I think I shouldve added subtitles for that because its kinda hard to see/hear which extensions I downloaded, sorry. But theres no extension you need thats called thumpy. Also it might say an error that goes something like "couldnt find ffmpeg: may not work" but thats a common error message that doesnt effect the code. Sorry theres no progress bar, the new update will have one because it can take a while but how you'll know its working is if you dont see ">>>" appear after the error message. If it still isnt working, I might need more details, so that I can help fix it. Sorry once again about all these issues, Im going to try make it easier to use in the next update hopefully. It just takes a while for me to fix all these things because Im only a beginner at the moment

Heres a couple things that could help: 1. Make sure your image is either a jpg or png, but not a transparent png. 2. Type the exact name as the image name, including capital letters 3. Make sure that the folders were not renamed, or moved. To test if its still working, try using the default presets, by typing 1 at the start. It should make a basic image using the dreams logo. If it still doesnt work, get back to me with what you think went wrong. Thanks!

@@coynem9229 I was actually going to ask you about this. Did you know about MM's picture importer before working on this incredible resource tool?
@coynem9229
@coynem9229 2 жыл бұрын
@@RammAndTheLambThanks for asking! Theres a bit of story around it. I started prototyping before MM in May of last year. Wasnt able to do much other then demonstrate that it could be possible to make a pic importer in dreams. Then there was an accidental leak in Dreams on the splitter device. There was a brief period where a picture Icon could be used on the splitter (Most likely for image data). Then MM showcased their image imports in dreamscom, basically telling me that it was all over. It sorta got me worried that MM would make a picture importer before I could even fully execute this cool idea I had. I gave up on trying to code it then because I didnt have any idea how to code properly and I thought MM were just gonna release the picture importer real soon. Eventually, 2 months ago, I decided to come back to it because I learned loads more with coding and MM still hadnt released their picture importer, weirdly enough. Im so glad that I did because I got it all working within just 3 days. My first picture importer that I made is actually still up on dreams, it is incredibly slow and real thermo inefficient but I started learning all these new cool things. I was constantly just trying out new methods of doing things, solving real weird problems that I dont believe anyone has ever come accross in Dreams before. I couldnt find a way to print pixels without costing loads of thermo, which made it useless. I was using emitters and couldnt bake everything into a painting canvas. But then I asked TapGiles for help and he suggested using keep changes on keyframes! A complete game changer because I never even thought of that. And thats how I discovered baking for the pictures, finally making them thermo efficient and practical to use for dreams! Sorry for the long rant, didnt expect to type for this long 🤣
@RammAndTheLamb
@RammAndTheLamb 2 жыл бұрын
@@coynem9229 Nice, don't worry it was an interesting story lol. I'm pretty sure even if MM releases their picture importer tomorrow this will not make your tool obsolete. I imagine when mm releases their picture importer it might be limited to only snapshots taken in dreams creations as to avoid copyright issues. While still useful, that creates an obvious problem for many creators. I think your toolkit would still occupy that niche since we can import images from our computers

No worries, both of those errors are very common and shouldnt cause any issues. In the next code update, I will make a clear progress bar because theres a lot of confusion around if its working properly. Just give it a bit of time until you see ">>>" return at the end. The pillow warning I assume is saying how "pillow will update in 2023, some code might not work blah blah blah", thats not too big of an issue for now.

The picture of my dog that you can see near the beginning has a thermo of 0.06% grameplay and 2.26% graphics, which is fairly low for a picture. Currently, Coloured images take up 3x more space than B&W images but there will be an update to reduce coloured images to the same thermo as B&W images soon.
