I came across scientific analysis on scanning that suggested that in a fraction of a second or brain can become spatially aware of colours and shapes. So use colours instead of numbers to test scanning...it will teach your players to scan more quickly and more efficiently i.e. they do not need a whole lot of detail to make the right decisions.

Great video, as a coach for an under 13’s I’ve been trying to get my boys to get their heads up, scanning….when not in possession, when in possession and when receiving a pass to scan, look up know where your team mates are and equally where the opposition are

Sometimes it’s not enough to blindly look up real fast without something to register into your brain. I like to do these drills outside and actually notice type or color of cars going by for instance. Could be anything, just consciously call out something. (Cars is a good ‘cause it’s something that’s always different)

Hey, i really like the excercises but I personally think the timing of your scanning isn't right. You should always look up when the ball is off your feet. So kick the ball - look up - kick the ball. Because at the moment the ball is off your feet, the ball is out of your control, so you can use that period to scan your surroundings. Watch the footage of players like odegaard, debruyne, modric, xavi, iniesta. They all do it like that. But besides that, really like the exercises, i'm going to use them with a little bit of adaptations. Keep up the nice content💪!
