I thought it was terrible how much a physician just blanketed the term “Diabetes” when Type 1 is VERY DIFFERENT than TYPE 2. You should improve your understanding & dialogue when speaking re public health topics. Children with Type 1 struggle to have their condition understood bc physicians like your speaker aren’t better clarifying. Their situation is autoimmune, not lifestyle and has some serious, life threatening concerns. Shame on you & her.

To make everyone's life easier, here are the 10 steps mentioned in this talk: 1) Take a brisk walk or exercise 2) Eat a bowl of blueberries or strawberries 3) Have a square of dark chocolate (70% cocoa or above) 4) Visualize your day 5) Sniff away the stress (Aromatherapy) 6) Write with your non-dominant hand 7) Create 10 minutes of white space 8) Learn a new word every day 9) Practice gratitude 10) Sit up straight The best takeaway for me was eating a square of dark chocolate. I have been eating dark chocolate for a while now, it definitely lifts the mood. Good to know there is a science behind it.

The most impressive and robust peer-reviewed research in support of berries slowing cognitive decline is with blueberries and strawberries, but if those are cost-prohibitive you can go with antioxidant-rich acai berries, raspberries, or blackberries.

You can try turmeric tea, green tea, walnuts, Indian black berry which are also source of antioxidants. For further information you can read the great India diet by Shilpa Shetty

Green leafy vegetables and berries have the most promising data from a research standpoint for slowing cognitive decline. If you are unable to get blueberries or acai (frozen is still good) there are many great antioxidant-rich foods and spices you can include in your diet including turmeric, parsley, spinach, kale, brussel sprouts, blackberries, raspberries, pomegranates, walnuts, cloves, cinnamon, oregano, curry powder, and cocoa powder.

Hi Nikhil! This was just a quick introduction to the book on 10 very easy ways to biohack the brain. I have a twenty-year career in neuroscience and delve into many of the peer-reviewed research findings my colleagues and I have published on how to slow cognitive decline and reverse brain aging.

In South Africa, the cost of equipment is a barrier to exercise. It’s also not a great idea to walk or run or cycle on your own - criminals will have your property in the blink of an eye! A Bounti rebounder (mini trampoline) is R1999 to R6999 - which can be a whole month salary for some.

That all has nothing to do with the definition of bio hacking i have in memory. It's a how to improve brain health, or slow down brain aging, but not biohacking. No talks about genes, no talks about genomes. The only part slightly touching the topic is receptors. Very disappointed as its misleading. Still great research and important topic. Hope people will adapt all these steps onto their routine/life.

The brain is NOT a muscle! To say that it is a muscle is to present wrong imagery which detracts from the important message you are delivering here.
@ForeverFunded2 жыл бұрын
I beg to differ. The brain adapts such as the muscles of the body. Performing multiple/consistent reps that work your chest will improve the vascularity/strength/composition of your chest. Performing multiple/consistent brain games/learning/etc on a daily basis will allow your brain to adapt. As you continuously learn something your brain will adapt and remember those things that you are learning. You can strengthen your brain and weaken it. Just like a muscle.
@pbea71852 жыл бұрын
@@ForeverFunded What you say is completely true. The brain, as well as body muscles can be developed through training. However, the brain is not anatomically classified as a muscle. A muscle is made of muscle tissue. The brain is classified as "an organ," and is made of nerve cells, fats, blood supply. Google it. "The brain is NOT a muscle." To just throw words around incorrectly in a scientific discussion, is sloppy. Especially if the audience is composed of healthcare professionals who are seeking to extend their knowledge.
@ForeverFunded2 жыл бұрын
@@pbea7185 mean if you're putting it in a literary way then of course the brain isn't a muscle. It just in some ways acts like one.
@pbea71852 жыл бұрын
@@ForeverFunded I agree. However, to start out the lecture with an incorrect blanket statement of, "the brain is a muscle," sort of negates whatever the speaker says thereafter. Especially if the whole topic is about biohacking the brain. If one doesn't even know what the brain is, how can one understand how to biohack it? I do not enjoy being critical. It feels yucky. And I'm not intending to judge this speaker in any way. Just evaluating the content of this lecture and thinking that word pictures attached to words such as "muscle" are very strong and draw the listeners into visuals in their imaginations. And from there, they try to put together what they are learning from the lecture. If the lecture starts out with a faulty visual foundation, how then can the building of ideas be strong and hold together? That's all :). The brain is much more complex in the way it is formed and the way that it functions than muscles are and do. Muscles are simple and not mysterious. Blah, blah, blah.... I have enjoyed our conversation. Hope your day is the best!
@ForeverFunded2 жыл бұрын
@@pbea7185 I understand, the speaker should've been a lot more clear as to not confuse the listener. I did as well enjoy our conversation, have a blessed year!
