i have 2 1/2 years of experience of editing and of those 2 1/2 years I took a LONG ass break bc I was forcing my self to edit and eventually had no inspo. recently I started again because I have inspo , but sometimes I get stuck so I just take a break. whether it be 2 hours or a 4 days. that's why so many people get into it and quit. just go at your own pace I promise you will get better and the ideas will come naturally over time.

I've been editing since 2020 like maybe a year and a half and im stuck with the same issue. I get inspired. Look at all sorts of videos, try them, and then I go back to my usual style of basic transitions when I've wanted to make different ones. I believe one day I will sit down and enjoy what I'm doing and "know" what I'm doing really. While I get better

I’ve been using after effects since 2020 and feel as if I’ve improved by only a little bit, past all the basics. This helped me a bunch! My edits were always simple and basic, idk how to formulate creativity like most others but am willing to work harder if I have to find out how

a lot of these are really good tips! however, i personally disagree on the part where you said always add shakes and that they define your style? Shakes are a preference that can be part of your style but it’s not always necessary to add them, shakes don’t always fit everyone’s style and there are many good edits that don’t use them. I really liked the video though and definitely learned some things!

I have a question I can hopefully get an answer to here :) How do you efficiently use transitions in ae after you have created them? I've noticed a lot of editing tutorials showing you ofc how to make those transitions on specific two clips, but I never know how to "copy" the transition setting to other clips. I am aware of presets and I've always used them on adjustment layers, but this never works out smoothly with blurmocurves for e.g.... So my question is if you editors always have to remake the transition on every single clip, which takes so much time rather than dragging a preset, or??? :) (I have been editing for quite some time, but this thing either always bugged me or I have just been doing them wrong)
@TheMandalorianPadawan2 жыл бұрын
If you're making your transitions with position, scale, rotation, etc. keyframes, then you can just copy the keyframes and paste them to other clips in your project file (and you can also copy keyframes from one project file and paste them into another one) and then fiddle with stuff if you have to. I would expect that the same thing works with blurmocurves.

thank you sm but i have a question, why do so many people prefer blurmocurves instead of the transform tool that are already there so where is the difference except for the fact that motion tiles and blur are already included or is this the fact why people use it? :3
@aliyahharrilal72823 жыл бұрын
from what most editors say, they think its smoother but idk
@Kryqtonite3 жыл бұрын
lemme try to explain: if you use the regular scale, rotation… and for example you want a clip to start with a zoom and end with a zoom you can’t do that very smoothly because of the keyframes that can’t overlap without precomposing the clip. but if you add the effect blurmocurves or transform and you want to have multiple zooms, rotations,… you don’t have to precompose your clip, because you can just add the effect over and over again with new keyframes to create smooth transitions. idk if that makes sense but i hope i could help you :)

@@Kryqtonite omg thx so much i was trying to do a time slice from laurens yt tuts and my keyframes were messing up and stuff but now i realise i need blurmocurves
@TheMandalorianPadawan2 жыл бұрын
@@Kryqtonite some people don't have blurmocurves though so one way to do that transition you talked about (starting with zoom and ending with zoom) you can just use scale keyframes for the first zoom and then make a null object layer, add a zoom to that, and then parent your clip to the null for the second zoom. that way you can do that even if you don't have blurmocurves.

My edit style, is smooth zoom ins transitions and basic clips. I don't really like the whole idea of 3d editing or too much overlay effects. But i like soft edits, i should call them. But i dont know hot to make mine less basic. Because my whole editing style isss kindaa basicc. But i want to make it look not as basic, without not being too flashy. Yk? If anyone has any tips, id be so greatful.

hi uh can you (or anyone) explain the blurmocurves / transform thing? like,,, does it inherently look better than if you just used the keyboard stuff? or does it just make it easier bc you don’t have to apply motion tiles and motion blur? also i thought transform was what the keyboard stuff was part of😭 like if you drop down the whole section not just one key? or is this an effect called transform in addition to the transform that’s already there???
