Is it possible to improve your English speaking skills immediately?
In my experience as an English teacher AND as a language learner the it is possible to speak english more fluently if you make 3 relatively simple changes, now.
I'm not suggesting that you can improve your English level immediately but you can improve you speaking skills by following my 3 tips.
Let me know what you think in the comments!
Thanks
Ben

I talk rapidly so when I talked in English that velocity was maintained by my brain. Then, after an oral test at the University, I discovered that trying to talk slower can help me to think better what to say next.

Learning a language is a long life process. How to improve your speaking skills: *Slow down when you speak, it gives you time to think, you sound more confident. *Kiss _ keep it simple (vocabulary, grammar) *don't worry about your mistakes _ Thank you professor

Perfect tips! Absolutely true! + take your time to LINK the words into phrases/combinations according to what you mean… and start rehearsing by recording yourself (any mobile would work) to listen and to be your own teacher :) My top tip is : say what you CAN say now, not what you want to say :) and keep listening to be able to say a bit more every day 🍀

I do think that I speak really fast and I try to remind myself to slow down. It’s great to be reminded from time to time. I just discovered your channel and I am hooked. Bravo Ben. 🥰

Wow, that was a nice surprise! I'm Brazilian, learnt English from a British tutor, moved to London, my GCSE English grade was 5, and everything was great. However, after moving to the north of England (Yorkshire), everyone kept making funny remarks about my accent as being 'Posh, posh, and posh...', and it kind of triggered an uncomfortable sensation in me every time I have to open my mouth to speak. The result is that I've kind of lost what I had learned and now it is exactly how you describe - overthinking, words don't come, and I refuse small talks, just no! I feel awkward most of the time and to top it off I'm going onto uni in September. Well. I've just subscribed your channel, thanks for sharing. Cheers

Firstly Ben, I can't thank you enough for your useful videos. I discovered them a couple of months ago while I was preparing myself for the C1 exam without any academy support, and honestly you have become my best guide! Not only are you one of the best online English teachers I have seen, but also you have a great understanding of how hard is to learn a second language as you are in this process as well with your Spanish. Therefore, we can feel your effort to simplify any English grammar with remarcable examples and great pace. Un millón de gracias! (From a Spanish subscriber living in UK who is taking the C1 exam on 5th November) :)

Hi Xedige... yes, speaking a second language can be a nerve wracking experience whereas writing is much more comfortable because you have time to think about how you to express yourself. That's why simply slowing down when speaking can be so effective.

I’m not sure how can I say this … but I’m literally crying. It may seem overreacting but I’ve experienced the same thing. I went to Canada and started from level 1 , for about a year and half I was so outgoing and would talk and have lots of confidence. I enjoyed my English learning journey so much . Then started university, and everything went downhill from there. I was surrounded with people who might not be the friendless if that a word. Anyway, I become insure and wouldn’t ask , talk o communicate in general. I didn’t want to be judged by these native speakers and professors. I become anxious, sad and developed a phobia of any kind of communication. I mad it out of school university somehow, and I managed to do only 3 presentations ( I was forced ) and maybe asked 5 questions in a room full of students . Until today , I’m trying to figure out to break this fear and start my journey with English. Since I can’t write one email with an a proof for my friend that it has no mistakes .. I don’t know and why I’m saying this … but you made me realize it now . Thank you 🙏🏽

@@tothepointenglishwithben. would you have any video/ or a suggestion for me? I trying to start learning English and become a confident speaker and writer . The issue I'm facing is that I have graduated from university and I have a very high level of listening skills but I lost the knowledge of writing or speaking . Especially writing.. I rely so much on a proof reading system or a Friend to submit any work . How to start learning at a level that I have so much knowledge and Information in my head , it is harder than learning a language from zero when you have no clue about it .

I agree with you. I know what you're talking about. I studied other languages like Dutch living in The Netherlands and Ukrainian and English in the USA. If you think all the time about speaking perfect, you do not speak out of fear of being wrong. When children learn to speak, they do not have that fear...that is the best. Even better than that is how you teach, all the time you explain in the language that you are teaching without translation.
