This is almost exactly what I was taught on how to play lead. You can really go a long way with what's shown in the video.

Marty I see you play like a pro all the time. I would really love to see a “beginner” play along side you. To show us the skill level of this lesson and such. As a beginner/ intermediate guitar player I find myself outclassed on some tutorials.

I've been playing since I was 15 and since I started on my acoustic Mitchell and even before that you've been showing us things we didn't know about. I'm nearly 23 now and just gotta show my love. Never stop Marty!

Marty I’m a life long fan and you’re amazing at explaining things, this was a fantastic lesson and a beautiful solo at the end there. Thanks for the video!

Very timely. I'm at a place where I am interested in improvising solos. So I'll also need to learn what key I'm in, and which scales apply to that key. All stuff my guitar teacher tried to impress on me all those years ago. I just said, "yeah but how do I play Cat Scratch Fever?"

Thanks Marty, the pentatonic patterns are starting to stay with me more on the fretboard finally. There had been some weird keep-away steerage thing going on in the school system with pentatonics on guitar at the crucial time that it used to would've been part of the overall music class curriculum. It was like being stuck in one of those terrible Philip Glass experiments. They outright said, they were keeping it from us as some new protocol. So thank you for not hiding it❣️❤

Hey marty, do you have any videos showing how to put leads to rhythms? Like what notes to hit, like if you're in the key of a minor, are you able to just hit any note in the a Minor pentatonic scale?

MARTY, make a lesson about how to add subdivisions and SWING Notes in the pentatonic because this is what EVH would do is add swing feel to the notes using the pentatonic scale.
@MartyMusic14 күн бұрын
this is just one video my friend, can't teach it all in one video but thanks for the feedback, I go into so much more in my premium courses
@waynegram890714 күн бұрын
@@MartyMusic I know its cool. Most guitarist don't know how to add in subdivisions like dotted 8th notes dotted 16th notes in the pentatonic scale plus adding swing notes. EVH Dad was a Jazz head so EVH took swing notes and made it sound more rock instead of it sounding jazz

Literally same. Always get stuck trying to transition from key to key and also finding the notes on the fret board for each scale. I have to use stickers to remember where they all are 😂

Improvisation comes from the heart(soul),and the best is spontaneous, so it's more a "reaction".can it really be taught?...just a thought not a sermon.
